Elmer is well known in England and is an elephant every child would like to meet through a book's sparkling bright pages. Color is the forte and he comes in many languages.

All the elephants in the world are grey, but Elmer is different. He is a bright colored patchwork elephant.

You may guess where this story is going in David McKee's "Elmer: The Story of a Patchwork Elephant". The first Elmer book for toddlers published in 1989 became popular and many have followed.

Now in 2018, there is on the marketplace, 40 Elmer titles, a TV series in England, and board books for younger book lovers. There is even a colorful Elmer plush to cuddle while the Elmer books are being read.

Young listeners will want to hear Elmer's story over and over. The books illustrated by the author in rich colors and motifs will occupy a treasured place in the family libraries.

Elmer Toys Too

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant are picture books for kids and the character also has a choice of toys to go with story time. Enjoy your book with a patchwork elephant plush. If Elmer and Rose is your favorite picture book there is a Rose plush too.

I am new to this elephant and he may be new to parents in the U.S, but the elephant is well known in the UK. David McKee is a British children's books author and illustrator that splits his time between his homes in English and France. The first picture book was published in 1989 and there are 27 now.

He partners with Andersen Press of the UK for marketing his colorful books and ideas. In addition to writing and illustrating David McKee thinks of himself as a long time story teller, a tradition he experienced in his childhood days from relatives and the town of Devon, England, before and during the Second World War. McKee studied art in college and before graduating he was published in many newspapers and magazines creating "one-off cartoons".

I have gathered here the accessories and toys that are available from Amazon and ebay for the U.S. fans of the Patchwork Elephant by David McKee.

paperfacets, Thank you for the backstories and products. Are you going to be getting the plush animal line for your grandson? The books are educationally entertaining and entertainingly educational. What a fun way, with the dual language versions, to start a child learning languages early on!

Just blessed with a first grandchild and I am already choosing Elmer books for him. My kids did not experience Elmer but it is never too late for enjoying superbly illustrated books! It is exciting to offer the whole family something new for their reading time.
