Entertainment On A Budget

by WebWriter

Ways to enjoy entertainment without spending a lot of money. Home entertainment, outdoor entertainment, parties, dining, and more.

Having Fun on a Budget

Movie Entertainment on a Budget

Movie tickets are expenisve. Why not plan a fun family movie night at home. Pop your own popcorn and get a movie from your local library or borrow one from a friend or family member. It will be far less expensive than taking your family to the movie theater.

Music Entertainment on a Budget

Many libraries have music that you can rent for free. There are a few web sites that will let you download music for free, and even more web sites that will let you listen music for free. If you purchase music, purchase used CDs, they are half the cost.

Outdoor Entertainment on a Budget

There are so many things you can do for free in the great outdoors. Go for a bike ride, skate, or find a local hiking trail. Have a picnic at the park. Go fishing at the lake. Find out what free activities your community has to offer. In our city for example, they offer free concerts at the park and other free outdoor activities throughout the summer, like the Strawberry Festival, carnivals, and carshows.

Dining on a budget

Take advantage of restaurant Happy Hours and 2 for 1 deals. Find restaurant coupons in the newspaper or on the Internet. Purchase gift certificates from restaurant.com. They offer $25 gift certificates for $10 that can be printed from your computer. Order water with your meal instead of paying for sodas or alcohol. If the kids are dining with you, go to a restaurant that offers free kids meals. Don't pay for expensive desserts, grab a dessert from the grocery store on your way home. If you are a senior citizen, ask the restaurant if they offer a senior citizen discount.

Parties on a Budget

Throw a pot luck party to save on food expenses. Throw a B.Y.O.B (bring your own beer) party to save on alcohol expenses. Have a theme party and ask each guest to participate. For example, have a wine tasting party and ask each guest to bring a bottle of wine.

Home Entertainment on a Budget

There are so many fun things to do at home, you just have to be creative and use your imagination. Here are some ideas. Break out the Scrabble, Monopoly, Twister and Trivial Pursuit. Host a craft party or have a book swap party with friends. Take out the video camera and make a video-ography. Have a campout in the backyard. Play free video games on the Internet. Research your family tree online.

One More Entertainment Budget Tip

For sports, concerts and theater and arts entertainment, never pay full price until you check for tickets on stubhub.com. We've order tickets from there several times and it's saved us a lot of money. We ordered tickets to a ballgame last week and saved over 20! They were great seats too. StuHub has a guarantee that the tickets are valid, and you can print them from your computer, which is convenient.

Great tips! I have used restaurants.com before too and we really saved a lot. They usually have some promotions going on too where you use a promo code and the gift certificates are as low as $2. Not bad!
