Final Thoughts From the Pretty Little Liars Episode "Original G'A'ngsters"

Thoughts from the season 7 episode that first aired August 9, 2016

Synopsis: Jason (Drew Van Acker) returns to Rosewood so he can protect Alison (Sasha Pieterse) from Mary Drake (Andrea Parker). The PLLs investigate a secret cellar containing papers and research from Jessica DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) and discover Mary, in addition to Charlotte (Vanessa Ray), had another child.

Could A. D. Stand for Aria Drake?

OK, I know this theory is a little far fetched and there are probably better suspects for Mary Drake's other child. But, there's some evidence supporting this.

First, we know the child (which is either male or female) is the same age as Aria (Lucy Hale) and the other PLLs. This means they likely either graduated with A. D. or one of them is A. D.

Second, of the PLLs, her file was the only one that was taken from Jessica's lair. Yes, Noel Kahn's (Brant Daugherty) file was taken too. But, that file was burned. And, if someone were trying to prove the identity of a mystery child, I think they would at least look at the file before burning it.

How this theory would work, of course, is Aria is really adopted. Since it is a small town, it's very possible her parents even know who her biological mother is and maybe even stole her from Mary Drake.

Of course, if she is A. D., she definitely has an accomplice.

Speaking of Mary Drake...

How does a mental patient become pregnant two separate times while being housed at Radley? Something seems off about that and it makes me wonder if maybe she was intentionally impregnated.

Of course, it also makes you wonder just who the father is. Is it one of the Radley doctors? Another patient? Or someone who would have been associated with Jessica DiLaurentis?

When Did Aria and Jason Have a "Thing?"

That was a subtle little bombshell that was dropped during their conversation and I suspect it will be elaborated on, through flashbacks, at a later date. But, I am assuming it was somewhere between Ezra (Ian Harding) and Liam (Roberto Aguire).

Of course, if my theory about her being Mary Drake's child is even remotely accurate, it does mean she had that "thing" with her half-brother. I'm not sure if the show would go that far. But, then again, it did promote a teacher sleeping with his student.

Why Did They Leave the Keys in the Car?

Granted, I know they were out in the middle of the woods and everything. But, given all that has happened to the PLLs since high school, you think they would have a little more common sense by now.

Not to mention, just how unsafe is that car? I know A. D. (or Aria's accomplice, whichever the case may be) broke into the car. But, what kind of car doesn't unlock from the inside when you pull on the handle? I doubt their saboteur had the time to disable that mechanism.

Am I the Only One Who Thinks Caleb Stinks at His New Job

For someone who is supposed to be providing hotel security, Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) sure was quick to look the other way when Hanna (Ashley Benson) was breaking into Jenna's (Tammin Sursok) room. I'd fire him on the spot.

Of course, this does also raise an interesting question, how were they able to move around that hotel without being caught before? Did Caleb install new cameras? Was nobody watching the cameras? If the hotel's security is that good, you think they would have been busted much sooner.

I Have Doubts About Yvonne's Injuries

OK, so the PLLs working theory is Noel Kahn broke into Toby's (Keegan Allen) trailer to steal a file and Yvonne (Kara Royster) was attacked and severely beaten as collateral damage. And, based on the available evidence, this does seem logical.

But, we really don't know all that much about Yvonne, especially not enough to know, for sure, she's not affiliated with A. D. Part of me suspects she wasn't attacked but, instead, self-inflicted the injuries (with or without Noel's help) to hide the fact she gave him the file.

Something along those lines would serve two purposes. Not only is she covering up her involvement, she's also giving Toby a reason to leave Rosewood, making it impossible for him to continue to help the PLLs. As an added bonus, she's giving Spencer (Troian Bellisario) a broken heart.

Final Opinion

I will admit this episode, at least compared to some of the others from this season, was halfway interesting, mostly because there were a variety of plot twists, ranging from the mystery sibling to Ezra discovering his dead girlfriend might not really be dead. If nothing else, I'm intrigued enough about the former to keep watching.
