Happy Independence Day!

In honor of the 4th of July and other celebrations of independence around the world, share the your heritage.

I'm Scottish my homeland being Scotland.  I know this for a fact from family history PLUS I had my DNA tested and researched.  A very exciting journey.

Looking forward to learning the heritage of all our interesting authors Smile

Although if you go back several generations on my moms side there is some French or Portuguese blood, on the whole (as far as we know) I have mostly Dutch blood. Since I live in The Netherlands, that makes sense.

There's quite a bit of native American on my fathers side of the family. My mother's family comes England on one side and Ireland on the other.

I'm English from both sides - dating back to the early 1800s on mum's side and the mid 1700s on dad's side.

I'm a Londoner by birth. All my known forefathers emanated from there, which means that I am probably a hotch-potch of many European nationalities. It would seem that many (if not most) of us are mongrels. That makes me wonder about the inanity of Nationalism, racism and jingoism. If we can all interbreed (i.e. we are part of the same species) then we should celebrate our similarities not our differences.

We are not the 'family of man', but the 'species of man'.

If we all got along with each other there should be no reasons for celebrating 'independence' day's. We should value and celebrate 'dependence' day's - as we all depend on each other, in some way or means.

The human race is an ecosystem in itself. As with all ecosystems, when one segment is out of kilter, then the others are impacted.

Here at Wizzley each of us depends on others within the community for various reasons. Let's celebrate that this July 3rd as the first 'Wizzley Dependence Day'!

Kiss

I am French, Irish and American Indian.  My Great Grandmother on my Father's side was full blooded Indian, my Grandfather was French.  My Mother's side had French on her father's side and irish on her mother's side.  Quite the gathering, eh?

Yes I did mean 'Dependence Day', as we all depend on each other.

May I suggest "Interdependence Day" so it doesn't sound so much like adult diapers?  Laughing

You may suggest whatever you want to. It's your site, Chef.

No, it's our site, Chaz. We'd be nothing without you, and you'd be just as great without us.  Smile

You may not know why I mentioned the adult diapers: we have a brand called "Depends" in the US. Not that I'd need it. (Yet!)

Good point Chaz, love the dependence day thought.

Chef, the Depends gag, I get it, Good ole American humor.  Have you seen the steamy new ads for this or a similar product?
