Following are some fun easy crafts for kids that will keep them entertained and reduce the amount of times you hear, "I'm bored!"

Quick Homemade Bouncy Balls!

Make Bouncy Balls - Great Homemade Craft Idea

Every kid (and adult) loves bouncy balls, and you can easily make them at home in minutes. Of course, you need to gather the materials first, but once you have them you can do this craft over and over again without having to stock up.

Materials You Will Need

  • Food coloring
  • Borax (This can be found in the grocery store in the laundry section.)
  • Craft sticks
  • Elmer's Glue (Opaque or clear)

Steps In Making Bouncy Balls

Step 1 - Pour 1 tablespoon of glue and a few drops of your food coloring into a small bowl and mix together.

Step 2 - Add 1 teaspoon of Borax and wait for about 15 seconds.

Step 3 - Mix the mixture with your stick until you are not able to mix anymore.

Step 4 - Let the kids remove the mixture from the bowl and roll it around in their hands to give it its shape. At first, it will feel sticky, but soon it will start to feel like a bouncy ball. Because little hands are making these, and not machines, the balls will not be a perfect round shape.

Step 5 - Let your kids entertain themselves with imperfect bouncy balls that sometimes go left and right instead of up and down.

Craft Stick Puppets

Making Stick Puppets - Simple Craft For Kids

There is something about little sticks that are made to look like people that get kid's imaginations going for hours. Fortunately, these entertaining stick puppets fit into the group of fun easy crafts for kids at almost any age. Kids that are very young are going to need to be supervised with this craft because there are some smaller parts.

Materials You Will Need

Craft feathers
Craft stick
Tape
Googly eye stickers
Pencil

Steps In Making The Stick Puppets

Step 1 - Get your kids to bunch up some of the feathers that are going to act as hair. Once they have the 'hair' just the way they want it, tape the bottom of the feathers to the top of the stick so that the majority of 'hair' is flowing and bouncy. The kids can tape if they want while you hold or vice-versa. Either way they will like this part.

Step 2 - Let your kids put the googly eyes on the stick however they want. Although, they should probably be where the eyes go (just below the hair.)

Step 3 - Let your kids draw a face below the eyes. If you want, clothes and other things can be drawn on the stick as well, but usually the hair, eyes, and mouth will be enough to keep a kids imagination going for hours.

Step 4 - Encourage your kids to put on puppet show. This will keep them busy planning their show and it will allow them to use their creative side even more.

Painting With Ice Cubes

A Simple Craft That The Kids Will Love

This is a fun way to let your kids paint their masterpiece without having to use paint! Plus, they will enjoy the process of building up the paint sticks as well as the process of watching them melt away.

Materials You Will Need

  • Ice cube tray
  • Plastic spoons
  • Food coloring (red, yellow, and blue for mixing)
  • Sketch paper
  • Craft sticks
  • Scissors
  • Plastic bowls

How To Start Painting With Ice Cubes

Step 1 - Pour 1/4 cup of water into bowls, and then add around 5 drops of the food coloring. One bowl per color. Mix well. Test the color on a piece of paper to see how dark the color is. If your kids decide that they would like the color to be darker, then add more food coloring.

Step 2 - Use spoons to transfer the color mixture into the ice tray. You can use one solid color in one section, or you can mix red, yellow, and blue to create new colors. Let your kids play around and watch as new colors appear before their eyes!

Step 3 - Put tray into freezer.

Step 4 - After about a half an hour check on the ice cubes. If they are half-frozen, then let your kids stick the craft sticks into them in the middle, or you can do it yourself.

Step 5 - Allow the water to freeze completely.

Step 6 - Remove from freezer and let stand for a few minutes so that the ice starts to give off some moisture. Crack the tray to release the cubes, and then let your kids create their masterpiece. Encourage them to keep going until the ice melts completely, and this will keep them busy for a long time.

Pipe Cleaner Jewelry

A Fun Pipe Cleaner Craft

Pipe cleaners truly are magical when it comes to crafts. This is one of those fun easy crafts for kids that girls may like better than boys, but if you can find some brown and blue beads, then you may be able to sneak them into the activity as well.

And if they are reluctant, get them to make their jewelry for someone else like their mother! In any case, this craft will improve their hand-eye coordination as well as keep their minds occupied.

Materials You Will Need

  • Pipe cleaners
  • A variety of beads

Simple Steps To Make Pipe Cleaner Jewelry

Step 1 - Let your kids string whatever beads they choose onto their pipe cleaners. Cringe inside as their patterns do make any sense, but outwardly encourage them to do their own thing.

Step 2 - Help them tie up their ends of the pipe cleaners so that their jewelry is formed.

Create A Musical Instrument - Wrist Rhythm Bells

If your kids like to dance and sing, then they will love this craft! Just be ready to get your earmuffs out because your kids will not be able to stop playing with their very own hand-crafted instrument.

However, if you turn on the radio then you may find that your kids add a nice beat to the music while they burn their energy off.

Materials You Will Need

  • Pipe cleaners
  • Bells
  • Beads

Steps In Creating A Musical Instrument

Step 1 - Encourage your kids to string up one bead and then one bell, or one bead and then two bells. Just ensure that there are some beads to separate the bells for style and a quieter rhythm.

Step 2 - Tie up the ends to ensure that they are snug, but leave enough room for your kids to slip the jewelry over their wrists or ankles.

Step 3 - Let them dance!

These all look like fun. Being an artist, I am most inclined to the ice tray paint.
