Go Green Dressing In The Raw Foods Slaw

by RuthCox

This dressing and slaw recipe will become your favorite reason for going green and adding more raw foods and salads to your diet!

I am so excited about sharing this nutritious coleslaw recipe with you. We will be using only raw foods to create the dressing for this cabbage salad. In fact, I have even used my own home grown pineapple sage in my Go Green Dressing.

Vegetarians and Vegans are sure to love this slaw in the raw, and it also makes a great summertime side dish for all of those back yard barbecues. And, it's minus the mayo that has been known to go bad in the heat of a hot summer day!

The dressing recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser, tantalizing the taste buds with its unique and savory flavor. Go Green Dressing can, of course, be used on any salads. It is delicious as a vegetable dip, too!

You are about to go raw by eating slaw dressed in green!

Recipe Food Prep Tools

The only thing you will need other than these kitchen essentials are serving plates, eating utensils, and, of course, a healthy appetite!

I create many magic moments in my kitchen with ease with the Magic Bullet. And that is saying a lot for one for whom the kitchen is not considered a comfort zone!

My sunflower cutting board allows me to slice and dice all of my raw foods with pleasure.

I particularly like the handle of this knife for slicing and dicing, as it must have been made for kitchen klutzes like me in mind, to keep fingers and thumbs away from its blade!

But of course, I always have serving bowls on hand that are functional and reflect my love of sunflowers.

My dressing will become your reason for going green!

This is such a simple 4-raw foods recipe that you can make in your own kitchen in just minutes. You will never go back to store bought dressings again after using your own homemade healthy salad dressing!

I know I have created a great recipe concoction when I get a thumbs-up from my roommate, and I did!

Go Green Dressing

Go Green Dressing

Four Raw Foods

Prep time 5 min  -  Total time 10 min
Ingredients for 10 servings
1 Large Cucumber  • 3 Stalks of Celery  • 2 Limes  • 4 Sprigs of Fresh Pineapple Sage

Slice cucumber, celery, and lime into chunks.

Chop the celery leaves and stalks of sage.

If using a blender, toss in all ingredients. I used my Magic Bullet, placing about half the ingredients in, pulverizing for a couple of minutes, and then added the rest.

Go Green Dressing is finished when you have blended to the consistency you desire.

This is the pineapple sage I use in my Go Green Dressing recipe, and a whole lot of other fine foods!

Savory as any other sage, with a hint of sweetness.

I hear tell this also attracts hummingbirds and that could explain the one I've been seeing on my deck of late!

Hold the Mayo on the Slaw

I have never liked coleslaw, mostly because it is generally made with a mayonnaise-based dressing, vinaigrette, or a sweet dressing. I want to taste my cabbage, not mayo or sugar!

Now that I am including raw foods into my daily diet, I decided to create my own dressing for coleslaw. My Go Green Dressing is savory citrus flavored and adds a natural zest to my slaw.

Candy, I can not wait to hear how you like it! When I moved this past year I had to leave my pineapple sage plant behind so I am going to have to find one locally as I am hungry for my slaw and that ingredient adds the perfect flavor to the dressing.

I actually have all those ingredients in my fridge right now, and I even have a pineapple sage plant! Making go green dressing today. Thanks Ruth.

Mira, I am all for healthy foods, but yes, it must satisfy my taste buds too!

Sandyspider, it is truly delicious slaw and dressing!

Mira on 07/24/2015

That dressing is very healthy. And I should eat more cabbage! Cruciferous veggies are essential to good health. All that health-related part aside, it looks like a tasty meal!

All looks good. I will have to make it myself.

CruiseReady, it is a rarity that I eat mayo on anything. I know a fella who goes through a giant jar of the stuff every week (ketchup too!) I cringe just thinking about it!

I agree, @blackspanielgallery, dressings can certainly alter the flavor and healthiness of a good recipe.

CruiseReady on 06/29/2015

Your dressing sounds like it would taste very fine, indeed. I agree about not being a fan of mayo as a dressing. I don't even care for it on sandwiches!

It is nice to see the healthy dressing included, since that is what can ruin a salad.
