Meditation

by ArabellaMortimerHendry

My experiences with meditation and why I think everyone can benefit from meditation. The world is beautiful so lets connect with it as best as we can.

Look around you what do you see? Are you able to see past the material world? Can you see how controlled our race is?

The true world

seeing past this world and into the other

Look around you what do you see? Are you able to see past the material world? Can you see how controlled our race is?

Brain-washed by adverts telling us to buy their brands because your home is not complete without them. Or you need to download a song because everyone has that song on their phone.

All around you is solid matter from the shoes that you wear to the furniture in your house. The majority of people like being part of a flock under the government’s watchful eye. They are quite happy to be told how they should live and what they should buy. And I understand that there is nothing wrong with that. However all my life I have felt like there is something more to this world. The world that we are living in is not the real world. Don’t understand me? Let me explain in detail.

Money makes the world go round sadly. We need to earn to survive in this world and as a result some of us our stuck in a job that we hate. I find this a shame because each one of us has so much potential. Only few of us push ourselves to the limit and break down the barriers that were once in our way. And as a result the grass is so much greener on the other side.

I have a saying which I use daily “Make your dreams your reality” and I think everyone at some point should at least attempt to do this. If you’re feeling stressed after a hard day at work or a busy day. Meditation is the thing to do! Not only does it give you clarity but it also opens up your Chakras and makes you more spiritually aware. Now some of you might be thinking “I don’t think I can do that!” you’re wrong everyone can do it. Let me tell you about my journey into meditation…

I first started meditating when I was seventeen after wanting to be more spiritually aware. At first my experiences were not very powerful because I was a “newbie” to it. But as time went on I started to get better at meditating. So much so that one evening when I was meditating I managed to drown out all of the background noise surrounding me. It was an incredible feeling! And quite an achievement as far as I was concerned.

Meditation is such a beautiful thing to do! I advise each and every one of you to try it at least once. However there is one meditation session I will never forget! It was a lovely sunny day and I was outside sat on the swing-bench. Looking up at the sky I thought about my dreams and ambitions. And how I was going to achieve them and get to where I wanted to be in life. I decided to meditate and try to contact my guardian angel if I had one. Previously I had scanned through a book about angels and how they are watching over us. I was confirmed as a Christian but nowadays I consider myself to be more of a spiritualist. There have been many stories about angels coming to the aid of people who are dying or who have been involved in an accident. It’s beautiful how the other dimension often collides with this world. Even if it is for just a brief second you are able to witness the world which is waiting for us.

I closed my eyes and began to meditate. Clearing my mind and concentrating on nothing. When I get deeper into my meditation state I begin to see white shapes. Everyone meditates differently and everyone’s experiences vary. I called upon my spirit guide to make them known to me. I began to feel dizzy and floaty. I began to sense my own energy and nature’s energy. A few moments passed and I began to pick up on a presence which was stood in front of me. I then felt an immense pressure on my Pineal gland (Third eye) I started to open my eyes slightly and as I did so I saw a person.

Even though the person only appeared for a few seconds it had such an impact on me. The person was sat opposite me on the garden chair looking at me with bulbous beautiful blue eyes! The person was dressed in robes and their complexion was white. The person vanished soon afterwards leaving me astounded and drained from energy. I do not know if it was an angel so I did some research. Referring back to the book about angels I had been reading I came across the angel that represented my element Air. Apparently the angel was known to have blue eyes! I’m not sure how true that is but it would explain what I saw. But the person was definitely from a higher dimension. Have you had any encounters like that?

I think we as a race need to be more spiritually open and aware! We should not be so narrow minded when it comes to our world. The world is so vast and it is stupid to think that we know everything there is to know about it. Go on a journey of self-discovery and explore the person you are. I wish you all the best for the future beautiful beings!

Until the next time take care!!!!

The computer crashed again before I could pose another comment concerning the below-mentioned, second part to my original question about gradual versus instantaneous embracing of spiritual awareness.

If the realization was instantaneous, sudden, be it expected or unexpected upon reflection, do you remember what or who at the time brought your spiritual awareness about?

The computer crashed yesterday before I could add a second part to my question about how gradually or how instantaneously you embraced spiritual awareness.

If the realization was gradual, do you recall what and who along the way kept heading you in directions ever more spiritually aware?

The statement "I first started meditating when I was seventeen after wanting to be more spiritually aware" initiates your third subheading, The true world seeing past this world and into the other.

Was becoming spiritually aware an on-the-spot realization or something gradual?

Meditation in the Vipassana tradition assists me in seeing and understanding sentient auras, such as those not only of people but of avian, feline and woody-plant sentients.

Would that be one of your meditational consequences and side-effects?

Revisiting your wizzley called to mind something that I'd meant to ask way back with the first reading and with the reactions that I shared below.

In particular, I find it compelling that with all the distractions of the teen years and of the 20s, with all the pressures on material possessions and success, you acknowledged the importance of dream time, what with your mantra Make your dreams your reality.

Is it possible that meditation's role in dream time and in a dream-worthy reality is making us aware of what we really are like and what we really can be when we aren't defining ourselves by the latest trends that really may not complete or fit us?

Arabella Mortimer Hendry, It's interesting that southwest Native American religions also view the material world as the illusion. I've meditated in the Vipassana tradition, and one of the most difficult things was when I was supposed to become my own clock in the sense of meditating for 15 minutes without setting alarms. What is your experience with the passage of clock-set versus medtative time? Do they always, never, sometimes correlate?

There are many different meditation techniques. I practice Vipassana which is thought to be taught by Buddha, preserved in pristine form by a chain of monks in Munnar (Burma) since the time of Buddha. It is anything but glamorous. It is a way to detach and experience reality as it is.

It is an Art of Living. It is complicated to perceive and difficult to understand. Since the essence of meditation technique is complex and yet so easy. It is said that those who have "Paramis" - seed of spirituality, they will understand and benefit from it.

Arabella, I am intrigued by strange experiences of any kind, and your visual experience falls into the category of experiences that interest me. I cannot fully comprehend it, as it is always difficult to determine the status of what we see in altered states of consciousness. We might encounter something good, but we must be careful about beings that we meet, as some can be deceptive.

The pressure on your pineal glad is intriguing, as Descartes had an experience when he felt that he was separating from the body but bound by a rope of light through the pineal gland, and this gave him his forgotten notion of animal spirits. Some people who have had out of the body experiences say that as they leave the body their residual attachment which allows them to return to Earth is through a chain of light that runs through the area of the pineal gland. Interesting. Yours was an experience on which to carefully reflect.

However, if you believe in guardian angels, think of their relationship to God, for they are his servants.

The methods of meditation differ among faiths. Christianity sees meditation as a path to contemplative prayer, whereas Buddhism focuses its meditation on the transience of being and in the case of Zen upon the void, which is identical with the transcendent Buddha nature. Hinduism has various pathways through meditation, as you would expect from such a large and ancient faith. It is useful to have support from an experienced counsellor if you are trying to achieve the higher realms of meditation/contemplation.

I haven't tried meditation, but I do try to find time to be still and calm and open my mind to whatever thoughts and ideas may enter. Your story is very interesting. In this busy world we are too often not thinking, but rather dealing with everything we are bombarded with. So many people fall into the trap of believing that material things will make them happy, and at this time of year (Christmas) it is especially true. There is so much more to this world, on that I do agree.
