Modest and Minimalist Living

by WriterArtist

People need to be aware of modest and minimalist life style especially those who value our precious green cover.

There is an urgent need for many to come forward in strong and assertive manner to help stop the environmental exploitation.

Perhaps, the plants out number all other species by providing numerous, diverse families and species in the world that manifests in many forms from algae to gigantic trees. But it may not remain like this for long time. With fast deforestation and diminishing green cover, we are losing our green resources.

You can help the planet with a change in your life style and becoming aware of the depleting greenery. Green cover is fast depleting, a single small step towards helping the planet earth by planting as many trees in the compound of your house will go long way in sustaining green living.

There are plenty of varieties that you can grow in your eco friendly house. Have plants on the terrace garden that are drought resistant. Use indoor gardening to combat unhealthy environment inside your house instead of using fresheners.

Drinking Water Shortage

Perhaps you know that the earth population has increased many folds and the demand for water during this period is becoming worse. Most Americans use an average of 100 gallons of water every day, which is equivalent to filling 1,600 drinking glasses. The fact is that only 4 of those 100 gallons are actually necessary for a person.

With increased demand of fresh portable water, come exorbitant prices, not to mention the threat to our depleting water reserves and environment.

Going Green Facts for Pollution Free Surroundings

Small steps can take big leaps in making changes for an environment that is free from pollution. For example, switching to an eco-friendly shopping bag can make a huge difference to the huge problems of plastic grocery bags at the landfills!

By making small changes, using less resources through your daily routines you can cause the climate change effect for better though slowly and steadily. Next time you want to buy a car, consider buying an eco-friendly car. If your grocery shop is nearby consider taking the bicycle or going on foot. When you are planning to buy an Air-Conditioned, think of other alternatives – how about planting more trees and improving air circulation. Using solar power for heating and doing many household chores is other alternative.

Going Green facts is all about trivial steps towards our precious surroundings and resources.

Rainforest Deforestation Facts

Rainforest Alliance NGO

There are several organizations working for enhancing green cover. Of them, the Rainforest Alliance is a Non-governmental organization (NGO) with the published aims of working to conserve biodiversity and stopping rainforest deforestation. It is headquartered in New York City, and has offices throughout the world. The Rainforest Alliance was founded in 1987 by Daniel Katz, who is still involved in the organization.

A growing number of companies, cooperatives and landowners that participate in Rainforest programs meet strict standards that conserve biodiversity. At the Rainforest Alliance, the belief is in ensuring long and healthy lives for people, for wildlife and for the planet by establishing sustainable ways of working the land. They are doing a lot of hard work in promoting green living across more than 60 countries around the world. This requires collaboration with farmers, workers, business leaders, NGO's, governments, scientists and social communities to develop and persuade green living standards that are economic.

Some people can do it, some can't. I'm determined to make it so, as I really do not need all the 'stuff' I have in this house. And my mother-in-law is even more of a hoarder than I have been. I realised when I left my last retail job that I hadn't written a letter to any of my penpals in over two years, and I wondered why I bothered keeping all the things I used to send them. That's where the decluttering bug really hit. My mother-in-law is also generously donating items for me to sell on eBay too, thus varying the range of items I can sell quite widely.
