The Monster High toy range is a vast collection of ghoulishly wonderful dolls and accessories, so I'm here to guide you through - don't want you getting lost and succumbing to the monsters now do we.
Right up the top here we have a guide on the newest Monster High dolls released in 2012.
Then, because I like to be helpful, I've knocked up a table of all the dolls released so far, cross-referencing characters against collections.
Mattel have got 2012 off to a flying start with two great new ranges and some new characters as basic dolls too.
It's Draculaura's birthday, but it's not her Sweet 16th - it's her Sweet 1600th!
This range includes Draculaura, Frankie Stein, Clawd and Clawdeen Wolf, plus new character CA Cupid.
The dolls are all dressed up in party outfits, and come with an alternative set of clothes to dress down in - although the grumpy old cow in me thinks that all the clothes look far too skimpy to be classed as 'dressed-down'.
Dracula is a very generous Dad and gave his daughter a new car for her birthday gift. You can also buy the Sweet 1600 Roadster, the first Monster High car. It is open top and seats two MH dolls.
The gang are heading off for an island adventure during their second Spring Break.
The dolls in this collection are dressed in beach-wear.
The range includes Lagoona Blue, Ghoulia Yelps, Abbey Bominable, Draculaura and Gil Webber. There is also a Frankie doll styled completely in black and white.

The year has only just begun, and Mattel have plenty of new dolls in the pipeline.
There will be a 4th release of basic dolls this Summer, featuring Jackson Jekyll, Robecca Steam, Venus McFlytrap and Rochelle Goyle.
There are also three new themed ranges planned: Dot Dead Gorgeous (or Drop Dead Gorgeous, I'm not sure which), a sports themed range, and Ghoul's Rule which is a Halloween themed collection.

Monster High dolls aren't just for the US. They have successfully hopped across the pond and taken up residence in the UK.
It's a bit hit and miss as to which ranges and dolls are available, but as of April 2012 the UK are right up-to-date with the latest Skull Shores and Sweet 1600 ranges being widely available.
