NogginStik Baby Rattle

by kimbesa

An innovative baby rattle design. This toy is designed to be a learning tool.

The NogginStik baby rattle is intended to tantalize the youngest children with color, sound and touch. Stimulating three senses to spark the curiosity of babies, to start them on a learning journey, and to help them bond with their parents through play.

The surfaces are textured, for little fingers to explore. The base rattles when moved, due to beads inside, a sound to attract attention.

And the smiley face head has LED lights inside. They turn colors – from red to green to blue – when the rattle is waved around. Eye candy for the little ones, and they get to make it change as they play with it.

The full name of this toy is the NogginStik Developmental Light-Up Rattle. That’s a mouth full. Parents get to see if it’s a handful for their young children, to encourage play and learning to the fullest, in their earliest years.

An Award Winning Learning Toy

Innovative Baby RattleI noticed this product via local business news, as it was developed by a local company called Smart Noggin, the brainchild of Marcia Haut, who has 25 years experience as a developmental therapist working with special needs children.

In her work, she noticed that there weren’t a lot of educational toys designed to develop a child’s early learning, so she developed this one.

Once I looked into it, I could see why the NogginStik has received attention and awards from parents and organizations that evaluate toys.

It is intended to help babies develop skills like tracking, listening and face recognition. These basic elements get babies interested in the world around them, and help them form a good foundation for learning.

The awards include:

  • 2013 Parents’ Choice Award from the Parents Choice Foundation
  • Toy of the Year in 2012 from Creative Child Magazine
  • Seal of Approval from the National Parenting Center
  • Gold winner from National Parenting Publications
  • Four and five star ratings from AblePlay, website of the National Lekotek Center, devoted to evaluating toys for special needs kids

SmartNoggin is based in Bristol, Indiana, and has more toys in the prototype stage of development.

You are welcome! I love to find products with a local connection, and that show how creative people can be. This rattle would be great for a baby shower gift, too.

I'll bet some of the parents particularly like it, too. Anything that lights different colors has a certain charm.

Oh wow that is so cute. It's a great design and I can definitely see why babies prefer it over a plain rattle. Wish I had thought of it.
