On a motorbike across Egypt - An individual holiday adventure

Since 2006, motorbike enthusiasts have the opportunity to book guided bike tours through Egypt. Since many years, Kimmo Hagman, the founder of Bike Egypt, is an enthusiastic biker. The well-known underwater photographer has lived and worked in Hurghada for more than 15 years now. With his new company he transformed one more passion into a profession. 

Quad or jeep safaris across the desert of Egypt have since long been popular holiday activities. Unfortunately, in most cases their motto is: "Quantity instead of quality" - therefore a group size of 20 guests in high season is no rarity. Theses tours are usually very touristy.

Quite a contrast to the motocross tours you can book with Bike Egypt. Equipped with full protective clothing, on well-maintained cross bikes you will ride across gigantic sand dunes and through impressive desert gorges. If you think there is nothing to see in the desert, you are very much in the wrong. Impressive marine fossils, traditional Bedouin villages and lush oases will leave long-lasting impressions and memories. The Bedouins even call their desert the "Sea without Water".

Always depending on the experience level of the participants, all tours are designed differently. Generally, two excursions per day are offered: one tour takes place in the morning and one in the afternoon. Individual day tours or multi-day trips are also available upon request.

The tour through the city of Hurghada is the shortest trip on the tour program and leads into areas of the town, which you will not find in any travel guide - discover the real Egypt! Trips to the north, to the lagoon town of El Gouna, or along the coast to the southern port city of Safaga usually take half a day.

A day trip to Luxor is a unique experience, not only because of the historical sites. The road leading from the Red Sea coast through the desert is amazing. The River Nile is the lifeline of the country, a fact you will notice when after the sheer endless pale desert you will suddenly be surrounded by lush vegetation.

Multi-day trips to Cairo are also on the program of Bikers Tour Egypt. Besides the classical highlights - such as the Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum - you will have enough time to explore the winding streets of the city.

For both, the desert tours as well as the road trips, you should have already spent a few kilometers in the saddle. The desert is not an easy terrain. In addition to the different driving conditions, like soft sand or rocky paths, it is mainly the heat, which demands a great deal of endurance from the bikers.

Also: On the streets of Egypt, a very creative traffic order reigns. The law of the jungle applies particularly in the cities; the vehicle's size and the volume of its horn determine the rules.
