Baccarat

The lovely artwork of Baccarat glass originated in France. Louis XV granted permission to open the first glass factory in the province of Lorraine. The organic surroundings and the woods provided the fuel to furnaces that created the first masterpieces of Baccarat. Along with elite class of France, the Sultan of Turkey and Maharaja of Gwalior adorned their mansions with the magnificent chandeliers and candelabras of Baccarat.

The firm also produced soda glass used in windows and industrial uses. Later the company specialized in a type of glass that is used to make beautiful paperweights. Today it produces artistic tableware. Baccarat glass collectibles are rare and pricey.

Daum Glass

In 1875 Jean Daum founded his firm in France. The artwork of hid company was motivated and influenced significantly by Emile Galle. They created initial masterpieces of Art Nouveau in glass. The art glass is an example of the finest craftsmanship that competes with the likes of Lalique and Galle.

In a Grand Prix at the Paris Exposition, they were awarded for their fine artisan and artistic flair in 1900. Today Daum designs remain one of the greatest sought after glass art pieces. Their innovations were adopted by many other glassmakers, in fact they were the pioneer in establishing the Art Nouveau and later Art Deco traditions in glassware.

Art glass expositions are so compelling, be they aesthetic or practical, ancient or modern.

The Czech glassmakers have a longstanding reputation for cutting trees for their furnaces in environmentally friendly ways. They left the land so nicely cleared that farmers and villagers could live on them and from their non-destroyed, still-fertile soils, still-standing vegetation. They never practiced clear-cutting.

Where would you place them in comparison to Baccarat, Daum and Locke?

I checked some spectacular designs online of Kristal Rogaska and they are stunning. I wonder why you had not put any article on those artistic glass masterpieces. I used to think you write mostly on fairy tales. Now I have come to know that you are into something big and impressive.

Not really, but I have seen several stunning pieces and we even had basic training of glass making in our school (nothing artistic really, but some designs panned out pretty original...). Our company Kristal Rogaska has some very impressive results and became pretty prestigious brand among hi end buyers and I recommend to check their collection too.
