Our Family Brand Grilling Style Steak House Baked Bean Review

by StevenHelmer

A review of the Our Family brand Grilling Style Baked Beans that are available at select grocery stores.

Product Description: Steak House flavored “grilling-style” baked beans from the Our Family label. I’m able to find this product available at select stores for a little less than $2 per can and have purchased it on a couple different occasions to cook as a side dish for steaks, burgers and a variety of other meats (some grilled while others were prepared differently).

An Affordable and Bold Baked Bean Option

Our Family Baked BeansMy family actually goes through quite a few cans of baked beans each month. This is because they are affordable, easy to prepare (all we have to do is heat them in the microwave) and go with just about any type of meat we might prepare for lunch or dinner.

When I do buy baked beans, I usually end up shopping on price. And, this is the main reason I was able to try the Our Family Grilling Style Steak House beans a few months ago. I came into the store on a budget and this particular variety was affordable while offering something a little different from our normal baked bean options.

This particular baked bean variety offers a somewhat bold taste compared to some of the other varieties that are also available at the same store. This is important to me because, when I prepare meat, especially steaks, I do want something that is going to compliment it. That is something I can definitely say about this particular product.

At the same time, while I would describe this product as bold, I can also say it doesn’t cross the line to the point it is spicy. While spicy is good some times, this isn’t the type of product I really enjoy that type of taste with and have experienced just that with way too many other brands.

My only real complaint about the Our Family baked beans is they do seem to be a bit watery when compared to some of the other, more expensive brands. This is something I've experience with other bargain brands in the past and, while not a huge deal, it is a little bit of a turn off for me. This is especially true when we are having burgers or bratwurst because the watery sauce tends to soak into the bun, making it difficult to eat it. This, however, is something I found I can correct sufficiently simply by using a slotted spoon when serving the beans.

Final Opinion

Our Family Baked Beans on the ShelfThis product offers quite a few things I do enjoy, including the bold flavor and, even more important, the affordable price. As a result, it is a brand/product I do purchase on a regular basis and would recommend to someone if they were to ask me.

StevenHelmer, Thank you for product lines, pretty pictures and practical information.
It's helpful to know about baked beans that have such a taste that they aren't forgotten when served with bratwurst, burgers or steaks.

How would this be as a stand-alone, for someone who sometimes likes to just eat baked beans on their own?
