Cuddle Up! Super Mario Plush Toys are Here

by JoHarrington

Recreate the world of Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser in your room. There are plush toys for many different characters and attributes within the Super Mario universe.

If you're going to leave toys all over your floor, you might as well make it a Goomba. Or hide behind doors and leap out at people with a ghostly Boo.

There's a huge range of plush toys inspired by Super Mario Bros and other games in the Nintendo Mario franchise. Here's your chance to collect them all and arrange them as you will.

There's even a Bowser for restaging boss fights on your bed.

Nintendo Plush Super Mario Characters

Treat yourself to a cuddly toy from Nintendo's Super Mario games. Available for kids, but I can see a lot of adults wanting one too.

These Super Mario toys are officially made, but sold by a variety of different stores.  They are based on characters introduced to the world by Nintendo; old, favorite characters, whom so many of us grew up knowing like family.

If you've never played Mario, then frankly you've never lived.

On the off-chance that you've never heard of these characters, then let me introduce them. They would all make great presents for a gamer.

Each Super Mario plush toy is suitable for anyone over seven years old.  For the record, I am over seven years old and they are ALL suitable for me.  Just in case anyone was wondering what to buy me as a gift.  (We can but hope!)

Super Mario Cuddly Toy

How to describe probably the most famous game character ever to have been given pixel form?

Mario is a plumber; and he rescues princesses.  He eats mushrooms to give him superpowers, extra lives and gigantic strength.  Or he can turn into a living fireball and bounce off walls.

He's very good at climbing and leaping from platform to platform; as well as driving his kart.  He can jump high enough to smash bricks and collect floating coins.

No drugs were involved in the writing of this description.  It all makes much more sense in context.

The plush toy does none of this.  It looks good. It can be cuddled. It's Mario!

Luigi Plush Character

Luigi Cuddly Toy

I read recently that Luigi is Mario's slightly younger fraternal twin brother.  I did not know that!  I just thought they were brothers.

The distinction may have come about in fandom lore, because Luigi was originally Mario with the colors changed.  It's only over time that Luigi lost a bit of weight and grew a little taller.

He's also a plumber, but equally good at driving karts and the like.  He's the sweet one though, shy, timid, nervous around strangers.  He's good-natured and the one you'd want to take home to meet mother.

Nevertheless Princess Peach always seems to go for Mario anyway.  Which says a lot about her.

Princess Peach Cuddly Toy

Originally called Princess Toadstool, Peach is the perennial damsel in distress.  I'm probably not the right person to introduce her, as she does my head in.

We can let her off the first time she was abducted by Bowser.  Let's face it, none of us are prepared for an obese lizard-like creature to snatch us off the street.  But once she was home, she should have taken precautions.

Where were the self-defense classes?  Why didn't she learn how to kick Bowser in the distraction, so that he would be less likely to run off with her again?

Mind you, there would be no game at all, if Princess Peach wasn't so wishy-washy and a disgrace to womankind.

Toad Plush Character

Toad Cuddly Toy

Toad is Princess Peach's main steward and usually the one to raise the alarm that she's been abducted.

While his job is to defend Mushroom Kingdom and its royal family, the reality is that such activities are generally devolved to two plumbers.  I swear that this makes sense when you're there!

There is only one Toad, but he looks exactly like the other denizens of Mushroom Kingdom.  If you want to recreate the entire realm, then you'll need to buy hundreds of this plush toy.

Yoshi Cuddly Toy

Yoshi lives in Dinosaur World, where every other dinosaur looks just like him.   For this reason, you can get Yoshi plush toys in several different colors.  To my mind, he'll always be green though.

Mario and Luigi are frequently permitted to ride on the back of Yoshi and his friends, should the adventure call for it.

Or even just for fun.  I know I've had gaming sessions where no levels were achieved at all. I was too busy having the giggles, while running Yoshi around in circles. I'm so easily amused.  Yoshi is most suitable for younger fans of Mario (or, indeed, middle-aged female fans of Mario, if I'm anything to go by).

It's not merely the main characters who have been rendered as plush toys. For those recreating the Super Mario world, there are background pieces too.
