Over 30 years ago Eleanor Burns began writing her popular Quilt In A Day Instruction Books series. It was a revolutionary way to make a quilt quickly and easily by using a rotary blade to cut fabric in strips, and using an assembly line method of machine quilting. She got the idea for the strip piecing method while browsing scrap fabrics at a square dance costume sewing shop.
Since that time the technique has become an accepted way of making a modern quilt. Eleanor has Quilt in a Day books on strip piecing, applique, scrap quilting, crazy quilts, paper piecing, piecing stars, triangles, and squares, and lots more. She shows you how to layer the quilt and make the binding after the top is complete. You can also find Quilt In A Day DVDs if you're more of a visual learner, and she has her own Television show and lots of examples on You Tube.
