Review of Bush's Best Honey Baked Beans

by StevenHelmer

My wife purchased a can of these last night to serve with dinner. Read to find out why I recommend them.

Product Description: Pre-processed and canned baked beans from the Bush’s Best brand made with honey, brown sugar and other seasonings. My wife purchased a can of these beans yesterday for around $2.50 at one of our local grocery stores. We ended up preparing them in the microwave last night as a side dish to go with the hot dogs and macaroni and cheese she made for dinner.

A Unique Flavor

Baked BeansIf there is one thing in our house, other than frozen pizza, we purchase most often, it would be baked beans. They are something we love to always have available because they are easy to make (just empty the can and heat the contents that are inside) and they go with just about any meat.

As a result of this, we have purchased quite a few different brands and varieties of baked beans over the years. However, even though we have purchased quite a few different varieties from the Bush’s Best brand, last night was the first time we have ever tried the Honey Baked Beans. And, after trying them, I have to admit we were missing out.

The thing that really impressed me about this particular variety of beans was the flavor. As I mentioned, we have had quite a few different varieties and brands but, very rarely, have we found a variety that varied significantly from the others we’ve tried.

That was not the case with this particular baked bean variety. The honey beans had a good flavor to them that was sweet but not quite as bold as many of the others we have tried. The beans had a milder taste that I think worked really well with the hot dogs and probably would go good with chicken or another white or lighter meat.

In fact, even though we couldn’t get them to try it (they were in one of their moods last night), I’m certain even my daughters would have loved the taste. They usually won’t eat baked beans because most are a little too spicy or strong tasting for them. This brand definitely didn’t fit either of those categories and, if I ever do succeed in getting them to try the beans, I have a feeling they’ll want me to buy more cans.

Final Opinion

This is a baked bean variety I truly feel is unique when compared to other baked beans. It may have taken me until now to actually try it. But, I definitely believe I’ll be purchasing these much more often going forward.

I actually don't buy this brand all that often because I can usually find store brands that are just as good for less money. But, this is one I'm not sure I can find in the bargain section.

I've tried many of the beans varieties from Bush. They have a delicious flavor at a very good price.
