Review of Jack Daniel's Barbeque Glazed Chicken Breasts

by StevenHelmer

My wife picked up this product a few days ago and we had it for dinner. Read to find out what I thought of it.

Product Description: Pre-cooked heat-and-serve entree from the Jack Daniel's brand consisting of chicken breasts covered in a Jack Daniel's barbecue sauce glaze. My wife purchased this product while at our local Wal-mart last week and we ended up having it as a dinner-for-two this past Sunday night.

Review

My wife had to run out to Wal-mart for a few things last week and, since she was already there and I was kind of tied up with a project and not in the mood to deal with dinner, I asked her to pick something up.

She, like she usually does, had some issues finding something that looked good. However, after some searching, she settled on the Jack Daniel's Barbecue Glazed Chicken Breasts. I wasn't sure what to think of these at first, but they ended up being much better than I honestly was expecting them to be.

One of my biggest concerns when it comes to a product like this is the quality. Usually, heat-and-eat items tend to skimp a bit in the quality category in an effort to keep the cost down. And, I honestly was expecting that to be the case this time around too.

However, the chicken was actually surprisingly decent. It was tender and, unlike some other, similar products we've purchased, wasn't fatty. This was, admittedly, a pleasant surprise for me.

I also found I liked the barbecue sauce glaze on the chicken breasts. When my wife first brought this home, I figured the sauce would be spicy and, because of that, we ended up making this as a meal for two and just prepared something else for the kids. As it turns out, however, the sauce, while a bit tangy and definitely well-seasoned, never reached a point where I would consider it overly spicy. And, because of that, I would be OK with my kids eating this if we were to buy it again.

Another thing we did like about this product was the convenience. We were using the microwave for something else so she made these using the stove. It didn't take too long and we were eating at a reasonable time as a result. This, again, was appreciated considering it had been a long weekend and we all wanted to get to bed early.

Final Opinion

This was a product I had not tried before and, when my wife first picked it out, I was definitely skeptical about it. However, it proved to be a good choice and I would definitely consider buying this again as a result of that.

StevenHelmer, Thank you for product lines, pretty pictures and practical information.
It's so convenient when preparation, price, quality and quantity cooperate. It's always helpful when frozen products respond beautifully to multiple ways of heating. For example, I tend -- apart for popcorn -- to avoid microwaving, which sometimes seems to affect the taste.

Would there also happen to be a Jack Daniel's barbeque glazed chicken-wing product for those who really like their chicken wings?
