Product Description: Fresh Italian gnocchi from the Maffei brand. My wife and I purchased two 28-ounce packages of this product while shopping at Costco a couple weeks ago as a splurge purchase. We ended up preparing one of the packages last night as part of a pasta dinner for our family, serving the gnocchi with some pasta sauce and vegetables.

Review
My wife and I had seen this product in Costco’s refrigerated section during a few previous shopping trips and managed to avoid purchasing it. However, a couple weeks ago, we made the mistake of shopping before we had lunch and wound up putting this product in our cart.
We originally planned on having at least one of the packages right away. However, the gnocchi was pushed to the back of our refrigerator and we forgot about it until yesterday morning, when I re-discovered it and remembered we bought it. Since the gnocchi was still good until December, we made plans to have it for dinner last night. And, as it turns out, it was as good of a purchase as we hoped it would be.
We’ve had gnocchi in the past. But, most of the brands we’ve purchased were either dried or frozen varieties. Compared to those, this product really stood out.
For one, it was definitely much faster to make this gnocchi than we thought it would be. It only took her a couple minutes to get the package open and cook it, not counting the time it took the water to boil. This is something that will be nice plus in the future, when we’re having a busy evening and don’t have as much time to make dinner.
I ended up making some pasta sauce to go with this pasta but, while it was good with that sauce, I found the gnocchi had a decent enough flavor to make it more than enjoyable if served by itself or in butter. This, again, is a nice bonus.
One of the most surprising things about this product was how filling it was. My wife and I debated whether or not to make both packages and, fortunately, chose to just make the one. That proved to be more than enough and we even had enough leftovers for one or two more dishes. This is something that always makes me feel as though I got my money’s worth, especially when I enjoyed the product as well.

Final Opinion
This was a bit of a splurge purchase for us. But, overall, I thought it was a good product both because of the quality and quantity. I would recommend it as a result.

StevenHelmer, Thank you for practical information, pretty pictures and product lines.
Maffei gnocchi sounds quite appetizing, particularly as a quality extender for when what I make up fresh underestimates drop-ins and re-serving requests.
The label suggests pesto or tomato sauce. Would you and your wife happened to have tried pesto with the second bag?
