Review of TGI Fridays Mozzarella Sticks

by StevenHelmer

I purchased this product last Friday to go with dinner. Read to find out what I thought of it.

Product Description: Frozen mozzarella sticks from the TGI Fridays brand. The sticks are seasoned in a panko breading and are prepared either in the microwave or the oven. I purchased a box of these mozzarella sticks at one of our local grocery stores this past Friday as an appetizer to go with the pizza I was making.

Review

One of our local grocery stores had frozen pizzas on sale last week and I decided to pick some up as an easy Friday night dinner for the family. Since I had to pick my oldest daughter up from school on Friday, I decided to stop at the store on my way home and grab some appetizers to go with the pizza. When she saw the TGI Fridays Mozzarella Sticks, I decided to grab a pack of them.

I've had this product before. However, I couldn't remember that much about it and, because of that, didn't really know what to expect. After trying them again, my opinion of them was a little better than I thought it would end up being.

I've had frozen mozzarella sticks from quite a few different brands and have yet to find any that were overly memorable. Sadly, after trying this brand again, I really didn't feel it achieved that level either. However, I can say it was an upgrade over most of those other brands.

The breading on these mozzarella sticks was decent. They were well-seasoned without being over-seasoned, something that usually is a little tricky to achieve. And, while they weren't exactly overflowing with mozzarella cheese, they did have cheese inside of them. This, again, is something I really couldn't say about some other brands.

I think my only real complaint about this product was the quantity. There were only seven inside the box. This wasn't enough for the four of us and, at around $4, I wasn't overly thrilled with the idea of buying a second box, especially since there were other choices that weren't much of a drop off in quality and were much cheaper. Fortunately, we already had some chicken wings in our freezer as an alternative appetizer and were able to work around the small quantity.

Final Opinion

This is a decent brand compared to most. But, if you're planning on feeding more than one or two people, you'll need more than one box. Depending on the price, that might not make it such a good purchase.

StevenHelmer, Thank you for product lines, pretty pictures and practical information.
In particular, it intrigues me about the panko breading. Panko breading isn't a baking style that I'm familiar with regarding Italian bread-cheese sticks.

What kind of pizza went with them?
