Roku Private Channel Codes

Roku private channel codes allow a developer or media provider to make their content available through the roku streaming devices but to limit the access to users the know the private channel code.  For example:  special training, or video feed from a closed conference.  To use a Roku private channel you must log in to your Roku account and select 'Add a private channel' towards the bottom of the page.

Many of the Roku private channel codes are created by developers testing things out.  Some of them are even marked as 'Beta'.  Or they are set up with very limited media to stream.  The better private channels are going to be ones fed from a source that continually updates it.

Some of the roku private channels have actually been taken down.  I have removed them from the list below, but if you look around you can find a private channel code for HGTV and Food Network, both of which add to the Roku fine but when you try to view them on TV say they've been removed upon request.

Here is a list of some of the Roku private channel codes that I've come across.  I've verified that all of them can be added to Roku as of January 2012, but this will most likely change over time.

Some of these private channels are actually encapsulated inside other channels.  The Hubble channel is also available through the NASA channel, and it works better that way.

The Roku private channels are also a great way for people to watch broadcasts from the home country while in the US.  Many of the channels are in a language different than English, like Russian, Hindi or Arabic.
