I don't know if it's the effect of the blockbuster Fifty Shades of Gray or that Boomer women with their gray hair now look great in gray, but gray is the new IT color. Every designer is featuring it and Nili Lotan is no different.

Niki Lotan was born and served in the Israeli military for two years. After studying design and moving to New York City, she became the chief designer at Nautica and then Ralph Lauren. Eventually she set up shop on her own in 2003 in the trendy Tribeca Ditrict of New York City. Not surprisingly, she returned to her roots and produced a line of military-inspired clothing. Her military jackets became the very cool fashion statement of early years of the Milenium.

That's because some women just have to have this year's new v-neck sweater. In order to recoup some of their fashion budget, they place them in second-hand clothing stores that specialize in designer fashions.

With my family budget, that is only way that I'm giving NYC couture fashion as a gift.

Shop for second-hand designer sweaters without leaving home

While some luxury thrift stores display items as well as designer boutiques, some don't. They spend their time and budget finding the right items and pricing them as low as possible. So you shouldn't discriminate against them. You've just got to use your imagination to picture the clothing on you and not photographed on a hanger or table.

The best way to do this is to go to the designer store and try on a few of the best pieces. Yes, they are cut beautifully and made from fine fabrics. Becoming familiar with the designer make it less likely that you'll be fooled and buy a knock-off.
