Thanksgiving Table Decorations and Centerpieces

Thanksgiving is a fall holiday. Fall colors should dominate the decorations.  And one focus, usually the main focus of the decorations, should be the dinner table, which is where the guests will gather.

Of course, side tables and mantles can support some decorations.  These can be used to add an elegant touch that is safer than having delicate pieces where people are reaching for bowls of potatoes are dressing. 

Use a tablecloth with fall colors or a Thanksgiving theme.  It can be matched to the napkins, and even the placemats if they are used. 

Table runners add to the ambiance.  They can accent the tablecloth, and they should also work with the other items used on the table.

Serving bowls with Thanksgiving colors and shapes are worth using.  It is generally the platter for a turkey that has a special shape, although it is not necessary.  Nice round or square serving pieces for casseroles are fine.

Small pieces such as salt and pepper shakers can be found in decorative shapes, and they can serve a supporting role for both the meal and the décor.

Centerpieces can be simple and inexpensive, such as folded paper Thanksgiving designs.  Or they can be nicer, and nicer pieces add more to the mood.  There are various items and designs used, among them gourds.  Representing an abundant harvest is a theme that works well.

Centerpieces can be used on side tables as well as the table used for the Thanksgiving meal.

Thanksgiving decorations need to be set up fast, since Halloween occurs close to Thanksgiving, but as soon as Thanksgiving passes Christmas decorations often take their place.  Since the time for removal of the Thanksgiving decorations is short, they must be easily removed.

Often products have a product rating.  While a picture might look great, if the item is poorly made it may not look so great on your table.  In preparing this article, I was looking at whether similar pieces to Christmas village pieces could be found for Thanksgiving.  One company has beautiful pieces that often have loose or broken small pieces when customers open the box.  Look at the reviews.
