A Game of Thrones Set for Collectors

Hardcover edition of books 1 to 4 in A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R R Martin

I am a huge AGOT fan and fan of fantasy fiction in general which is why I was so excited to receive the hardcover Game of Thrones book set as a Christmas present last year. As any fan knows the hardback edition of any book series is the set to collect and over the years I have amounted so many hardback editions from my favorite authors that unfortunately they now compete for space on my ever overloaded and insufficient to my needs, bookshelf.

Among my collections are signed books, first editions and limited editions from different authors including Tolkien and Terry Pratchett.

The hardcover Game of Thrones set is my latest addition and while it is not a first edition, limited or signed it is one for my bookshelf, simply because the hardback edition is such a great set

A Game of Thrones Hardcover Edition

Books 1 to 4 of A Song of Ice and Fire

The hardcover set of A Song of Ice and Fire includes the first four books in the series, the first novel in the series A Game of Thrones being the most well known due to the success of the series created by HBO, Game of Thrones.

The four books in the set are

  • A Game of Thrones
  • A Clash of Kings
  • A Storm of Swords
  • A Feast for Crows

If you have never read any of the books in the series then you might be wondering why you should buy the hardcover edition. The simple answer is, you don't have to.  There are many different editions available for the series from the paperback box set to the kindle edition and the books can be purchased separately for those of you who are not sure if they want to buy four books that they may end up not reading or for much better value as the set for those who have probably seen the HBO Game of thrones series and are curious to find out what happens next.

Why you should read A Game of Thrones

If you haven't yet I don't know what you are waiting for, George R.R. Martin has been likened to Mr J.R.R. Tolkien himself and if you have read, the Hobbit, LOTR or The Silmarrilion I find it very hard to believe that you would dislike any of the novels in A Song of Ice and Fire.

In fact if you like fantasy fiction at all then you are sure to agree that A Game of Thrones the book is an exceptional piece of fantasy fiction and certainly one of the best to be published in the last 20 years.  For once I am even recommending viewing the HBO adaptation of A Game of Thrones because the transition from novel to television series has been carefully done to give a real feel for not only the characters but the story line which is rare in my opinion.

So if you have a few hours this weekend order your copy online or venture to your local bookstore and get yourself a copy of A Game of Thrones, you won't regret it!
