Life of a Chalk Stream
When reading this book you would not think that the peaceful Evitt valley was the scene of a bloody battle in the fifth century between warring groups containing Saxons and Britons. No evidence of the battle remains.

Margin Call With Simon Baker: Review of the First Film in JC Chandor's Triple Drama Movie Crown
I caught some talk last night on CNN about margin financing in China. I should really watch this movie :) By the way, I watched the original The Day the Earth Stood Still, at your recommendation, and really enjoyed it.

I'm expanding my education. I've never heard of chalk streams although I have heard of the White Cliffs of Dover. Great article.

Old World Flamingos: Greater and Lesser
I have to admit that I had never seen a living flamingo until I visited the New Orleans Zoo. I don't know how they manage to sand up on those little legs. They are beautiful though.

How to make breakfast potatoes – The one cup breakfast
Even though they cost a lot more, "Baby Yukon Gold" potatoes are my favorite. I use them in stews, soup, and love grilling them.

Old World Flamingos: Greater and Lesser
They really are beautiful to see. We were delighted to see a half a dozen of them flying along the Texas coast a couple of summers ago when we were there. Of course, those would have been Caribbean Flamingos.

They look so graceful. I didn't know they had black wing tips, the photo with their wings spread is lovely.
