Not yet. One of younger generations in my college did that and they all said it was life time experience.

Gifts and Buttons for Angry Deaf People
I totally agree that creating an environment happy for all is not always possible. In fact, one can end up negating ones own needs constantly trying to create a happy balance between those of others. As someone who spends a good deal of time ...

Why Does Father Ted Hold Such a Timeless Appeal?
Can there be a genuine comparison between the works of Dave Allen and Father Ted? Allen was a comedian/wit, whereas Ted is comedy fiction. I never took to Dave Allen. However, it is a matter of personal preference.

Why Does Father Ted Hold Such a Timeless Appeal?
Wish I could like Father Ted but I never could. My allegiance lies with the more subtle Dave Allen whose caustic wit and ability to skewer clerical pomposity and double standards has never been bettered. Good article though, and I enjoyed ...

Why Does Father Ted Hold Such a Timeless Appeal?
What I think is sad is that in the episode when Dougal doubles as a milkman he is really happy, so you get the feeling that he has been dragooned into the priesthood by a family mad on status, or specifically by a domineering mother. Some women ...

What is the Difference Between the UK and Britain?
I think it's one of the most fascinating What Ifs in history - or at least British history - what would have happened if Harold had won at Hastings? The notion of a Scandinavian Britain is the most likely outcome. Would that have made us all ...

Why Does Father Ted Hold Such a Timeless Appeal?
Wow! Father Ted is even more clever than I thought. I'd missed every one of those references. I wonder how far the layers of reference actually go?
Thanks for all of the insight.

Why Does Father Ted Hold Such a Timeless Appeal?
There are several digs at corruption in Irish Catholicism.
First, Bishop Brennan is addressed as "your grace" so he is an archbishop. The archbishop of the region where Ted is based, Galway, was once Archbishop Brown, not a nice or popular ...

What is the Difference Between the UK and Britain?
The issue of Normanisation is complex. The first Normans to become established in Scotland were those who took service with David in 1138, after the Scottish defeat at Northallerton. They were Normans serving empress Maud, who was in alliance ...

Between Christian and Pagan: a review
I see now. In some ways the timing of the birthday of Jesus was pragmatic, as it was politic to fit into the festivities that attended Mithras. But there is also the point that there is a sacred cycle of the year, as you know from your own ...

What is the Difference Between the UK and Britain?
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and a hundred times yes. It's this level of divide and conquer which comes through time and time again. In many ways, the worse thing that happened to the Scots was winning Bannockburn, simply because it put the Norman ...

Between Christian and Pagan: a review
I meant like shifting the Nativity to December 25th, in order to accommodate Mithras etc. Turning Pagan elements into Christian ones, so that they may be assimilated.

Between Christian and Pagan: a review
There are certain elements in Christianity that have affinities with pre-Christian practice, these including the honouring of saints and sacred places and objects, and also the sacred meal, the Eucharist [the Eucharist goes back to Jesus ...
