Beautiful Postcards in a Box

by KathleenDuffy

Who says the art of letter-writing is dead? These beautiful boxes of postcards prove that hand-written messages have never really gone away!

In fact, if anything a hand-written letter or postcard has become a thing to bring even more delight and pleasure. E-mailing is handy, but soulless! There is nothing more comforting than the sound of the letter box rattling and there, amongst the bills and bank statements is a hand-written postcard.

These boxes of postcards make wonderful presents, especially if you provide a book of first class stamps to go with them!

The thrill of receiving a hand-written message will never die out - especially if it is written on a really amazing postcard!

Postcards for Book Lovers !

Always Judge a Book by Its Cover...

This box of one hundred postcards, each illustrated by a Penguin book cover, will delight book lovers everywhere.

It celebrates the genius of Allen Lane who wanted a pocket-sized book to read on the train. There weren't any - so he invented Penguins.   And of course, the designs on the book covers are just fabulous.

I own this set myself, and as well as posting them off to people,  I love to just go through them now and again, remembering the books I have read or just admiring the covers.

Postcards from The New Yorker: One Hundred Covers from Ten Decades

Selection of New Yorker Postcards
Selection of New Yorker Postcards

From its founding in 1925, The New Yorker  has been famous for it's wit and sophistication - it represents the freshest and most avant-garde of writers and has given authors such as Ernest Hemingway, J D Salinger and Dorothy Parker the encouragement they needed when they were starting out.

Today nothing has changed.   Their short stories are still a respected feature of this great magazine, their cartoons are extremely funny and the art-work on their covers is often beautiful and controversial.

This box of postcards will definitely appeal to the avant-garde presence in your circle!

This is a fantastic idea for a gift. You can still drop a short note without making a huge time investment. Everybody is so busy nowadays.

I love these postcards. I keep this tradition myself. Whenever I visit a museum I buy a number of art postcards to send to friends :)

I absolutely agree with you. People value hand-written letters and cards these days. I still have all the old postcards people have sent me over the years. :)

I used to collect postcards when I was a kid and they were great and fun educational tool which had totally different dimension than web browsers. I still don't send text messages instead of classic cards and in my opinion hand written text is coming back, this time as sign of respect to the receiver because it shows you care and you took some personal time to choose, make, write a card with hopefully personal message.
