I love seeing dogs dressed up at our local Halloween parade, I'm always amazed at what different outfits I see them wearing each year.
Character pet costumes like Scooby Doo and Yoda are absolute classics in my opinion and your pet will really stand out from the crowd if you dress them up in one of these outfits.

When it comes to finding a costume for your dog that is only half the battle, next you have to get their co-operation in wearing it!
My late dog would sit and let me put on a costume fueling my hopes of a cool 'couple' costume idea with the two of us. As soon as she was looking good and I turned for my camera she was promptly outside and trying to get rid of the costume! I only tried to dress her up a few times before admitting defeat!
My gorgeous present dog loves wearing a costume and will let us dress him up because he knows it means he's going somewhere to be fawned over by everyone who meets him - I've found a social butterfly with this fur baby! Unfortunately for us as he's grown into an adult I can't find costumes to fit him, one year I will learn how to sew and make him his own.

When I recently discovered that you could buy Star Wars costumes for dogs I quickly emailed a friend of mine who is a self-confessed Star Wars nut as I knew he would simply love to purchase one of these costumes for his little West Highland Terrier. The only problem being he won't tell me which one he chose, apparently I have to wait until Halloween!
There's actually three different Star Wars Costumes available to purchase for pets and they are Yoda, Princess Leia and Darth Vader.
I absolutely love Scooby Doo and so does my daughter so I love this costume idea although part of me does think - a dog dressed as a dog - and I'm not sure whether it's an inspired Halloween costume or one that I should re-think!
What do you think of this costume? I really don't think it would suit my little dog, but my late Rhodesian Ridgeback would've been able to carry off the costume really well - she was also a big 'scaredy cat' of a dog rather like Scooby himself!
The costume (opposite) is an officially licensed Scooby Doo costume and would be a pretty cool idea if you and the rest of the family dressed up as the rest of the Mystery Inc gang.
Including your dog in a group costume that includes a fantasy dog is bound to get people talking!
The Wizard of Oz truly is a classical movie and one that people easily recognize, so why not dress your pet up as one of the characters from the Wizard of Oz.
I think this Dorothy costume is a really sweet pet costume that's only missing one thing - red shoes! I would add some red booties to my dog's feet if I was to dress him up as Dorothy.
As my dog is male though I don't think my hubby would appreciate me dressing him up as Dorothy. There are some other characters from the Wizard of Oz that are also available in pet costumes however.
The Cowardly Lion, The Tin Man and the Scarecrow are also available and they look great so why not let your pet 'follow the yellow brick road' this Halloween and dress them up in one of these gorgeous pet costumes inspired by the hit Hollywood movie that we have all come to love - The Wizard of Oz.
I actually saw a bulldog in a Shrek costume last Halloween when we were walking along the esplanade getting ready for the Halloween Parade to begin.
The squeals from all the children who saw the dog brought smiles to both my husband and I's faces as it was sheer infectious enthusiasm, even my daughter who was trying to be nonchalant about the entire evening couldn't help but emit a 'ooohh, look mum it's Shrek' before realizing that she sounded like a child (she'd just turned 10, but in her mind she was much older and merely there to placate her parents)!
What do you think of this Shrek costume? I love it and I'm sure (after what I saw last year) that it is bound to be a hit for you if you decide to get it for your dog.
This officially licensed Shrek costume even includes boots like Shrek's which I think just really set it off.
