Choosing Educational Toys for Toddlers

by Tested_to_Destruction

So many toys, so little time, gotta stick to a budget. Knowing just how active and inquisitive your toddler is, which toys do you buy, what price, and why?

Toddlers are a bunch of very active little people. You may often wonder how a person so little could be so active and cause so much commotion in the course of one day.

That’s just the way toddlers are; they're active, inquisitive and very, very lively. The highlight of toddlerhood is the discovery of new skills, which often make them even more active.

How To Engage With Or Occupy Your Toddler

You don’t want to keep them playing quietly in their own room, to keep them 'safe'. Instead, find baby toys that help them improve their skills and physical abilities. Many of the toys that are designed for toddlers, especially from 18 months to 3 years of age, focus a great deal on improving their developing muscles and motor skills.

But toddlers are developing in so many ways! Their minds often seem like little sponges, soaking up information and experiences all around them.  Babies born in the twenty-first century have some new opportunities for learning and developing skills that will be important in the technological age. There are plenty of educational toys for toddlers to choose from and Ambee and I have road tested more than a few!

Fisher-Price iXL 6-in-1 Learning System

Learning sometimes takes place with pens and notebooks, but it can also use technical tools, such as an electronic gadget designed to let toddlers play and learn at the same time. This has six modes of play.

It can be a reader, game player, notepad, photo viewer, mp3 player and an art studio! Compared to video games, this system provides your child with many more opportunities for different levels of learning.

It's easy for a child as young as three years old to use, and it's durable enough for children's use. Advanced technical considerations, like expanding the memory and downloading, need to be handled by adults, of course.

As for the games, the monkey game that comes preloaded will be a challenge for a three-year-old, but that just means that she won't play it once only and then toss it aside. She will appreciate the game more as she continues playing it, while naturally growing and developing.

The other features are also very entertaining and educational. This is recommended for parents that want to start buying electronic educational toys for toddlers, as the price tag certainly packs a lot into one unit.

LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game System (Green

This educational learning game system will really excite your little one. The novelty itself is a plus factor, but more important is the fun that they'll have, and the knowledge your toddler will gain from the game system.

This has the same features as the Leapster2 (another product from LeapFrog), but the Explorer has a bigger screen, more memory, and a faster processor.

You can also add a camera accessory, which can be purchased separately. This system is very entertaining for a child as young as 4, which is getting towards the preschhol child.

The pet game allows the player to "buy" pet food with virtual money. It's a game of practicing realistic, real-life skills in a virtual, make-believe world!

The stories are read with narration option and with character voices. This E-Book will catch a child's attention and hold it for hours, which is a nice way to encourage children to enjoy reading books.

The V.Reader has a beautiful design, a vivid screen, and a stylus that makes the entire V.Reader easy to operate. Books need to be downloaded, as is the case with most other electronic readers for children.
