Five Funny Halloween Decorations

by Ragtimelil

Holidays are a time to laugh. Here's five funny Halloween decorations to get you in the holiday spirit and one for the dog.

Halloween is all about skeletons and parties but it doesn't have to be scary. In one village in New England the custom was for people to put weird things on the town green, like someone's outhouse.

Here's some decorations and gifts for your house, your yard and yourself. Get your house ready before the ghosts and goblins come out to play.

Don't forget your dog on Halloween. He needs a treat too.

Flamingo Skeletons

What could be better than the traditional flamingo decked out for Halloween in his bones? The birds are plastic with the skeleton painted on for years of enjoyment. The tall longneck is 30 inches tall and the shorter necked on is 27 inches.

They are a great gift for other holidays and parties too. Be the first on your block to sport skeleton flamingos in your yard.

Pumpkin Rug Set

It's hard to believe that someone would decorate their bathroom like this, but I have friends who do.

The Jack-O-Lantern Toilet Lid cover and rug is soft polyester plush. The cover is 15 inches by 13 3/4 inches wide and fits standard lids. The rug is 25 inches long and 25 inches wide with a cut out to fit around the toilet base.

What could be sweeter than being greeted by a Jack-O-Lantern smiling up at you from the toilet.

Crows

I love crows. I used to have one of these guys perched on the passenger seat headrest in my van to keep me company. It almost gave one mechanic a heart attack when he stuck his head in the van. He thought it was alive.

The are made of real feathers glued to a Styrofoam core with plastic feet and beak. The glass-like eyes give the birds a life-like expression.

Have a set of two crows in your yard or house for Halloween or any time. They are 10-12 inches tall. They are not a toy for small children.

Door Cover

Now here is an item that will truly make you smile. Hang this on your bathroom door, or even better, on the wall at the end of a hallway or other unexpected place.

The design is clearly printed on poly material that can be used year after year for a new Halloween tradition. It can be used indoors or out. The cover is 10 inches by 72 inches

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark

If you remember watching Elvira in the 1980s, and I admit, I do, you will have to smile when you see this cut out of the Mistress of the Dark. Cassandra Peters, as Elvira began hosting the late night TV show, "Movie Macabré" and became a cult icon. Her wise cracking and ditzy humor was almost more fun that watching the movie.

She would be a perfect hostess for your Halloween party. See how many people remember her.

Elvira is 75 inches tall by 32 inches wide. Mount on the wall or stand it on its own.

And One For the Dog

Dogs don't always appreciate the humor in Halloween. From their point of view it's a scary time with humans wearing strange things and jumping out of bushes and ringing the doorbell all night.

Give your pooch his very own treat and let him hide in the back room if he chooses. Or bring as a gift to that party with the dog hiding under the bed. He'll thank you for it.

Have you ever wondered about Halloween and what it really means? I've decided to celebrate Halloween my own way.
In 1996, a Sarasota, Florida businessman declared September 22 Elephant Appreciation Day. It's a day to remember these amazing animals and the danger they are in.
I decided some years ago to forego the celebration of Thanksgiving. These are the reasons I gave it up.

Thanks. I haven't had kids in my neighborhoods in the past few years but a fire sounds good.

Great stuff, I love Halloween it is such a fun holiday, In our neighborhood we go all out and set around a fire handing out candy to all the ghost and goblins at the end of our court. Great stuff for Halloween indeed. :)K

Me too. I think it would be even funner somewhere like a broom closet....My warped sense of humor.

I like the crows myself. And Elvira. Trying to write about her.

*hands up* I remember Elvira! Showing my age here.

Some of these are hilarious. I was half tempted by the crows though.
