Today I finally got around to making a new wizz. After working on diligently for hours, I happily pushed the publish button.  To my horror, it got published with the last half up front and the first half down on the bottom. Took me a long time to put the modules back into their correct order.

Anyone have any idea how this happened?  Is it just me?

I was soooo waiting for someone else to chime in about this before I said anything. This has happened to me 7 times already in a mix bag combination-

  • Completed article, hit publish only to find it published and mixed up my capsules like a bad game of tetris
  • Completed just hit "page view" and the same thing happened (different wizzle)
  • Sometimes just the bottom most module shifts to the very top...

and various others, the problem with this is theres NO quick fix now with all the side bar module peices to move things back into place, you literally have to drag everything back to where it was and pray it doesn't "remix"... luckily it doesn't do it consistently (even right after it happening on the same wizzle).

I thought maybe it was chrome, chrome and wizzley seem to have a few issues in their relationship...

Any thoughts Mr. Hans or Mr. Simon?

Jerrico

Jerrico I should have messaged you!! I was waiting for someone to bring it up as well. Each and every article that I publish I have this problem. It's quite irritating.

Ya I use chrome as well. Btw the problem happens just once and not repeatedly on the same article.

But, if I'm modifying it and checking the pageview before I publish I always have the problem. And only the last module appears first. If it's split in two then both the modules appear above.

Yep every article for the last 7 I published did this, sometimes it does it in the middle of tweaking the article other times not till I hit publish- the issue isn't in the publish it's somehow mixing up what is sent to their server at least the order of the mods...

Happened to me, too - once. In Chrome.

I'll bring it up with Simon as soon as he's back from his trip (middle of the week).

Thanks Chef, I wonder if it's a chrome issue... to help Simon figure this out, can you guys (state what browser/version and windows/version (or mac?) your on... the name of your power company, ISP, milk delivery company... wait, no he just needs the browser hehe...

I'm using chrome (always the latest update) Windows Vista SP3

Chrome (latest as usual) Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, RAM and HD (Secret) Tongue Out I doubt he'd need anything more than the browser.

Too late lil, you just been infected by the tetris article virus, symptoms include jumbled up modules, heavy breathing, boiling blood, frustration, and sweating (when you try to resubmit after fixing it for 20 minutes)... :)

I haven't published a new article today, but I've edited quite a few (adding content, checking links) and I haven't had any problems doing that while using Chrome.   I'll post here if I do and hopefully that'll help Simon out - I wonder how long his 'to do list' will be when he gets back, he might never take a holiday again!!

Don't forget about Hans, he does what simon does too... they both work on everything together I think... I notice we mention Simon a lot and never Hans :(

So true :) Maybe because he's never on the forums much. But, they're both on the tech team so they're working together I guess.

Hans and Simon do a lot together, that's true. However, Hans ist the server specialist and Simon is the developer and designer. (Anne is the bilingual marketing and design Goddess for Wizzley (and, by proxy, Pagewizz as well), I am the bilingual gofer for Pagewizz & Wizzley.)

So how does this page wizz and wizzley work, are both owned by you guys or is page wizz a different group of people but you both use the same programmers/server spec.? I'm not completely sure how the two sites/staffs are related...

As far as I know both are owned by the same people and run by the same :) Just that one is focused on German articles and the other English.

Hi together,

that's ok :) I have no problem with that...

Here are some background information to Pagewizz and Wizzley...

We startet programming Pagewizz in January 2009 and finished the basic programming in September 2009 when Pagewizz went online. Have a look at this article to see how Pagewizz (and later on wizzley) looked in the past:

http://pagewizz.com/wayback-machine-die-entwicklung-von-pagewizz/

The current design and layout was my idea, but Simon was creating the css classes, renewed the code etc. I searched for new servers and installed the software so that our websites are (hopefully) running 24 hours a day and are very fast :)

At the beginning we did everything together: database design, programming, layout, server stuff and so on. Have a look at this page where you can see some of our late night dinners (often we programmed until 4 a.m.), how stylish our office was (my apartment) and what equipment we used :)

http://pagewizz.com/rezepte-fuer-programmierer/ (receipes for programmers)

A few month later we decided to open Pagewizz in French (pagewizz.fr) and after we met Achim and Anne it was only a little step until we started Wizzley.

I have an idea where the bug is, but Simon is the code specialist. We'll have a look at the problem and put it on top of our todo list :)
