Kindle Reading Lights

by pkmcr

Do you like to read in the dark with a book light? Solve the problem of the Kindle not having a backlight with one of the Kindle Reading Lights.

I love being able to read just before I go to sleep and of course I want to use my Amazon Kindle. However, my partner likes to go straight to sleep with the lights off!

So if you are like me and are the type of reader who loves reading in bed, but have a partner who loves to sleep instead, then you will be aware of the need for book lights which keep both parties happy!

This is no different with the Kindle, which as you know is a device that functions just like a real book. That means that you still need a book light or Kindle Reading Light

The Reasoning Behind The Need For Kindle Reading Lights

Can't You Read The Kindle In The Dark?

I must admit I didn't think about it before I bought my Kindle because we are so used to devices having backlights these days aren't we.

However, as we know the unique technology behind the Kindle means that it is just like a real book.  You can't read a book in the dark can you? So it makes sense that you can't read the Kindle in the dark!

When Amazon were designing the Kindle the aim was to create a screen which didn't strain our eyes in the same way that computer, tablet and iPad screens do. So this meant using the "e-ink" technology.

There are some people who think this is a downside of the Kindle, however I think it one of the things that has made it as popular as it is. I know that I wouldn't be as keen on the Kindle if it reminded me of reading from a computer screen.

Don't forget that you also can't read traditional backlit screens in the sun! The thing I really like about the Kindle, is that you really do think you are reading from real paper, and you can still see the page in full sunlight when you're away on vacation!

Choosing Your Kindle Reading Light

Which Is The Best Kindle Reading Light For You?

There are a number of lights you can get for the Kindle which are designed to be the perfect size to clip straight onto the Kindle. You don't need to hold the light separately which would be a bit annoying wouldn't it! They are bright enough that you can see the screen clearly without being so bright that you will wake your partner who wants to sleep next to you!

So let's take a look at two of the most popular clip on lights for the Kindle:

The Kandle For Kindle is designed so that you can clip it onto the top of the Kindle without obscuring your view of the screen. It's has established itself as one of the most popular Kindle reading lights with people reporting that it produces a good amount of light and has a long battery life.

You are also able to adjust the position of the Kandle, which makes it useful to get the perfect angle.

Unless Amazon decide that they are going to add a light to the device, (which I don't see happening given that they want the Kindle to stay like a "real" book) then your only other option is to buy a Kindle Case with a built in light, or failing that then you would need to turn on the nightlight if you fancy some bedtime reading!

It also has a flexible neck that lets you freely direct the light source wherever you need it on the screen.

A clip with cushioned pads allows you to securely clip the light onto your eReader without blocking the screen and an optical grade acrylics lens provides you with glare-free reading.

The Benefits of Kindle Reading Lights

There’s nothing like curling up with a good book, or Kindle for that matter, especially when you’re just about to go to sleep.

Many people find reading at night very relaxing, but keeping the lights on in your bedroom, living room, or wherever you’re at can be a bit impractical especially when you only need enough light for the surface of your Kindle.

Kindle reading lights are your solution for night time reading or when you’re reading in low lit environments. They’re efficient, affordable and can also help you save energy. Here are a few examples of different types of reading lights you can get for your Kindle.

Haven't come across a Kindle Case with the Kandle built in yet - but when I do I will make sure to include it here :-)

The Kandle seems the neatest option. I wonder if there is a case that accommodates the Kindle AND the Kandle together?
