Romantic Skeletal Love Never Dies Figurines for Halloween

It should have been the beginning of the rest of their lives. Instead it was the end of it. They had barely exchanged their vows, when the tragedy struck and no-one survived.

For most that should have been the end of the story. A few flowers and tears in remembrance, an obituary in the newspaper and a memorial page on Facebook.  But that would be a short-sighted view indeed.

This was a love affair which transcended all that. It defied death itself. It was a Halloween wedding which tore through more than just the bridal veil. The groom raised the veil between this world and the next to claim his kiss.

In the carnage of the aftermath, the couple still stood at the altar. Their final breaths gasped into an eternal kiss. Their arms entwined in an endless embrace. Neither were prepared to let go, even if life had fled.

As the horrors of the world faded from their view, they never lost sight of each other.  For better or for worse, they were together; and they had a marriage to enact. Their last promises spoken on Earth had been to remain united, until the universe could cast them asunder.

The universe could just damned well try.

Stepping clear of the debris, they ventured into the outside - the undead bride and her groom - and they stood amidst the gravestones of the church. There should have been photographs. There were none. They posed for them anyway.

With no bridesmaids, amongst whom she might throw her bouquet, her groom took the flowers from her hand. Courting her now, as earnestly as he'd ever done to get her to that fatal altar; to make her his own for all eternity.

A honeymoon.  There had to be a honeymoon, and consummation of a marriage. Death had sought to sink their dreams, but the passion went on. It took them hand in hand beyond the pull of the afterlife, into one of their own devising.

Do not mourn them. Do not wear out sodden tissues reading the verses about them in the paper. Do not stare at their gravestones and sigh. Their marriage goes on. A love that cannot die.
