I am learning mosaic techniques in the area of Claremont/Pomona, in the San Gabriel Valley, and have branched out in several other mixed media projects. The teacher offering the guidance is Leanne Turner, a well rounded artist also offering drawing and painting, tile making, glass art, assemblage and mosaic ideas in every medium imaginable. Bring your idea and create in any art media. I am practicing drawing and painting for flat unit origami.
If you are familiar with my artistic items, you may have guessed my focus is paper. My first project in Leanne's studio was a paper mosaic. She guided me through a painting process that had a unique design all my own developed in only two workshop sessions. This first project was a decoupaged cigar box, a technique I had not any experience with. I already can think of additional uses for my first design idea.
If you are in the San Gabriel Valley area, including San Dimas, La Verne, West Covina, Covina and Pomona, the art space is open to anyone interested in developing their mixed media arts and crafts projects.
The first image below is a simple paper picture covered in broken glass. All the spaces were filled with black grout. Project done. The glass is available in studio. A project can be started on your very first session. A piece like this can be applied to an old dinner plate, serving tray or a small cabinet door from discarded furniture.

HI Mira. Since our teacher is so diverse we can work in many mediums. We use fired clay, ceramics and glass to make more than just wall art.
I like Leanne's art. I went to a mosaic workshop here in Bucharest too and I would love to get some more instruction and guidance in how to make mosaics. You're lucky to have learned from an artist like Leanne (I really like the images you're showing).
paperfacets, Are the mosaics all by you? What is flat unit origami?
