Review of PureGuardian Ultrasonic Humidifier

by StevenHelmer

I purchased four of these for our house. Read to find out if they were worth my money.

Product Description: Compact ultrasonic humidifier from the PureGuardian brand, advertising up to 14 hours of use and little noise. I purchased four of these humidifiers online for approximately $25 each and have had three of them set up in our bedroom and the kids' bedrooms the past couple of nights.

Review

We've reached the time of year when we need to kick in the furnace most nights to keep our house comfortable. And, along with that, we have reached the time of year when our marriage gets a little shaky because the dry air from the furnace causes me to snore.

As a result of that, I decided to shop for a humidifier for our room before that became a problem again. And, when I found the PureGuardian Ultrasonic Humidifier on Costco.com for a very reasonable price ($49.95 for two), I decided to also buy two more for the kids' bedrooms and one for the living room.

We have been using these humidifiers for the past couple of nights and, as it turns out, this ended up being a great purchase.

One of the things that really attracted me to this particular brand, besides the price, was the fact the humidifiers do not require a filter. While I know there are some benefits to having one, I've always considered them a bit of an inconvenience because they get moldy really quick and (if I can even find one) are expensive to replace.

Because these humidifiers do not have a filter, they were very easy to set up. It really was as simple as taking them out of the box, filling them with water and plugging them in. It took me longer to figure out where to set them up at.

One thing I found I liked about this product when it arrived at our house was the compact design. We have a couple other humidifiers we've used in the past and they take up a lot of space and weigh quite a bit. This brand of humidifier, in comparison, doesn't take up nearly as much space (my oldest daughter and I both have ours set up on our nightstands while my youngest daughter has hers on her dresser) and is very light. In fact, my daughters can fill their humidifiers without my help, something that is a nice plus.

Despite their compact design, the humidifiers do a good job. I don't know if they would work in an extraordinarily large room. But, they worked just as well in our bedrooms as the larger humidifiers did and that's all I really wanted.

One thing I was a little skeptical about when we purchased this product was the "virtually silent" claim on the box. I've heard that claim before and have never seen a product live up to it. However, after using these humidifiers, I do have to admit, they are extremely quiet. Other than a light hum (that can easily be drowned out by just about anything else), the humidifiers make almost no noise. This is something I definitely do appreciate because it means I can have it running and can still hear the kids if they need me.

Final Opinion

This is a quality product that I found at a great price. I look forward to using the humidifiers this winter and do recommend them if you're looking to add one (or several) to your house.
