Review of Schweigert Buffalo-Style Chicken Wings

by StevenHelmer

I purchased a bag of these yesterday evening. Read to find out what I thought of them.

Product Description: Fully-cooked, frozen chicken wings from the Schweigert brand. I purchased a bag of the Buffalo-seasoned wings for $8.99 at one of our local grocery stores while doing some other shopping yesterday evening. I ended up making some of these wings last night and served them with the pizza dinner we were having.

Review

My wife recently got a promotion at work and has been training all week as a result. She was exhausted yesterday afternoon after a particularly long day so I decided to just order pizza and pick it up on my way home.

I had to stop by the grocery store for cat food so, while I was there, I decided to pick up some chicken wings to go with the pizza. I ended up buying this brand.

I have considered making this purchase in the past but, up until yesterday evening, had chosen not to spend the $8.99. However, when I noticed another brand of chicken wings was nearly $6 for just 5 wings, I decided this brand of wings was the better deal and pulled the trigger. And, after having them last night, I didn't regret the purchase.

One of my biggest concerns with this brand of wings was how spicy they would end up being. Buffalo-style means a lot of different things depending on the brand and I knew the wings could potentially range from bland to too spicy because of that.

This, however, ended up not being a problem. Even though the wings smelled really spicy when I first took them out of the bag, they ended up tasting just fine. There were enough spices to give them a little bit of a kick. But, they weren't spicy to the point we couldn't eat them or (more likely) ended up with heart burn right after.

Some of the chicken wings did end up being a bit on the small side, which I was a little disappointed by. However, even the smaller wings had a surprisingly decent-sized quantity of meat on them and the fact there were more wings in the bag did make up for the smaller size. In fact, I only needed to use about half the bag last night, leaving us enough wings for another meal and adding to the overall value.

Final Opinion

Other than the smaller size of some of the wings, I really had no complaints about this purchase. I feel I got my money's worth both in the quantity and quality categories and would purchase this brand again as a result of that.

StevenHelmer, Thank you for practical information and product line and picture.
Was the pizza made from scratch or store-bought, and what kind would go best with these chicken wings?
