Product Description: All-natural corn and sea salt chips from The Better Chip brand made, as per the package, from fresh corn. I discovered these at one of our local grocery stores this morning and ended up buying a 2-ounce bag of them for 99 cents. I decided to have the chips as a mid-morning snack while I was at work.

I picked up a bag of these at one of our stores this morning. Read to find out what I thought of it.
Review
I didn't go into the grocery store this morning with the intention of buying chips. Instead, I was actually in the produce section picking up a small container of grapes to eat for breakfast and the store happened to have a display advertising The Better Chip products. And, since I'm not a person who typically passes up the opportunity to try something new, especially when it is supposed to be better for me, I decided to give these a try.
The chips, admittedly, were a bit more expensive (at 99 cents) than I normally would care to pay for a small bag. But, I also figured, if they lived up to expectations, they would be worth spending the extra money on. After having the chips, however, my opinion of them is a bit mixed.
One thing I found I liked about this chip right off the bat was the crunchy texture. I've had plenty of regular corn chips and their crunchiness tends to vary from bag to bag. But, even the best bags weren't nearly as crunchy as these were. In fact, I think the only time I've had a corn chip that was as crunchy as these was when I eat at one of our Mexican restaurants and they bring us a basket of fresh-made chips.
I was also somewhat impressed by the quantity inside the bag. Normally, I buy a product like this and the bag is mostly air. This bag, however, seemed to have quite a few chips inside of it and, unlike many other brands, they weren't all broken into tiny pieces.
My only real complaint about this product was the chips were a bit bland. They were supposed to have sea salt but I honestly couldn't taste that much of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm OK with chips that aren't overly salty. But, in this case, many of the chips just didn't seem to have any salt.
I will, however, say I was eating these without the benefit of salsa or a dip and, mostly because of the crunchiness, do think these would be a good companion to something like that. However, I would probably have to buy a much larger bag and would have to wait to see what that would cost me before saying I would purchase these just for that.
The Better Chip Tortilla Chips, Fresh Corn and Sea Salt 2oz Bags, 18 Count, Fresh Corn and Sea salt Flavor. We may be crazy, but blending real, fresh corn kernels right off the cob into our double thick corn masa seemed like a better idea than cob chips... |
Final Opinion
These chips do seem to be made with quality products, like the bag advertised and, depending on price, I would recommend them as a choice if you're looking for a party chip to pair with salsa or some sort of dip. However, I'm not sure I liked these enough to consider them as a everyday snack.

StevenHelmer, Thank you for practical information, pretty pictures and product lines.
A look at online sources for The Better Chip describes other varieties, such as beet corn chips with sea salt. Perhaps they also have corn chips with vinegar, something I additionally would like to try.
