A search engine and directory
A cross between a search engine and a link directory, the idea behind the Article Site is to allow users to search specifically across user-created content. These are articles created on sites like Wizzley, Squidoo, Hubpages etc. rather than on official sites and news sources.
The advantage for research use is that it links directly to local news, biographies and memoirs that may otherwise be difficult for researchers to find.

Rather than a site where you write and submit articles, this is a place where users catalogue articles they have already written on third party sites, giving them a position in a search engine and index to make them easier to find.
Submitting Articles
How to add content to the search engine
Authors don't submit their individual articles. Instead they register with the site, validate that they run an account (which takes less than 5 minutes), and The Article Site creates link pages to all articles for that account. As an author with several hundred articles, this is much faster than manually creating them.
It also means that you don't have to worry about someone else submitting your articles, since they can't pass validation. The site assigns labels and keywords automatically. Since the link pages contain only the top 250 characters of an article or less, users don't have to worry about their content being scraped from the site or duplicated.

As well as a powerful keyword search, there are quick links to several high level topics. Users can also bookmark items of interest on their profile and label them for easy retrieval.
The linkpages allow users to rate articles, meaning that better articles get a higher position in the search engine.
The reason why this may be more useful than standard searches is because of the degree of personal involvement of the authors of some of these pages. Not only can you find and contact people who were actually present at events, you can get first hand accounts of experiences, travel and more.

If you have Adsense, you can also make a little extra money off your links and lists.
The sidebar displays on all lists you share or links you submit includes an Adsense box. You can submit your Adsense code on your profile to gain the revenue from any clicks on ads shown on your content.
