Who Is Belinda342?

by belinda342

Belinda342 is a writer of online articles, humorous werewolf fiction, and other fantasy stories. But just who is the woman behind the name?

First of all, I am Belinda342, also known under the pen name of Belinda White. My first and foremost passion in life (if you haven't already guessed) is writing.

I've been writing for almost as long as I can remember...definitely as long as I've known how to spell out words. And before that I was telling stories and playing with my imaginary friend, Wanda Alice.

What do I do when I'm not writing? Well, I'm either at work at my day job (yup, still have one!), walking Dakota (my half-Shepard mut), petting one of my cats, or reading. Unless of course it happens to be the month of November. (If it's November, I'm always writing...even when I'm not. NanoWrimo just can't be ignored.)

Some of my reading is for pure pleasure, some is for research, and some is quite literally for both. Books like the Harry Dresden Files by Jim Butcher fall in that last category. I would read them for pure pleasure, but it also classifies as research to be able to see what type of writing really works well. Also his books help me learn how to write in first person better...and my werewolf character kind of demands to tell her own story.

So, now where to start? How about with my fiction writing?

The Benandanti Series

Tazlynn, Benandanti WerewolfFor the past few years, I've been concentrating on my werewolf fiction--the Benandanti Series.  Book One: Finders Weepers is available through Amazon in both print and Kindle versions.  If you happen to have a Nook rather than a Kindle, you are also in luck.  You can find my book at Barnes and Nobles online too.

I have a somewhat quirky writing style. My humor is a bit on the sarcastic side...and my main character Tazlynn can be a handful to keep in line as a writer.  She really does seem to have a mind of her own.

Tazlynn is a Benandanti werewolf.  Don't worry, she isn't evil.  The Benandanti have a very long history of being God's Hounds.  They are the protectors of their villages, and they take their roles very seriously.

Unfortunately, the Vatican's secret group of werewolf hunters don't differentiate the Benandanti from other creatures with a more sadistic and malicious nature.  To them, all shape-shifters must be eliminated.  So to add to Taz's day to day problems of normal everyday life, tracking down the "bad ones", and finding a mate...there is always the possibility of an assassin paying her a house call.

You'd think she already had her hands full, wouldn't you?  But no.  We writers can tend to be a trifle sadistic to our poor characters.  So to make matters even worse...the Trickster comes to town.  Yup, the age-old Coyote with all his great bag of tricks and pranks.

But that's okay, because as it turns out, Taz isn't the lone Benandanti of the town that she thought she was. Of course, the others aren't wolves and won't tell her just what they really turn into...which just can't be good.  Can it?

My Favorite Books to Read

I read.  A lot.  I truly believe that if you want to write well, reading should be one of your first and foremost priorities.  Especially if you read the really, really good books.

Personally, I favor writers who work with series fiction.  While I can read a one-off book and enjoy it, I'll enjoy it a lot more if I know the story really isn't over after the last page is read.  There is always the promise of the next book and the continuation of their story.  That means so much to me as a reader.  I tend to get close to the characters I read about.  And I love knowing that the series will go on and I can get even closer.

Here are my top five choices in series fiction.  All but one are in the fantasy genre, but all have their own special twists and turns.  I've listed the first book of each series to the right, where you can click through to Amazon for more information on them.  I truly do recommend each and every one!

And by the way, these are in no particular order.  I don't think I could possibly choose between them.

  1. The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
  2. The Hollows/Rachel Morgan Series by Kim Harrison
  3. The Numbered Series by Janet Evanovich (Mystery)
  4. The Disc World Series by Terry Pratchett
  5. The True Blood Series by Charlaine Harris

If you haven't read these and are looking for a fantastic series, I promise you can't go wrong with one of these.

Greetings belinda342. Your werewolf book series sounds like something I would like to read. Since my kids gave me a Kindle last year for my birthday I love getting Kindle books from Amazon. Congratulations on publishing your work.

Well, self-published, but yes. After reading everything I could and taking a look at the real numbers and chances of going with an agent or publishing house...I decided to get busy and simply publish the thing. I'm really glad I did too. It's so much fun seeing it there on Amazon!
