Yes, no matter the fact that I make no income. I have to write to stay sane, so I may as well do it in a friendly and supportive community. (And where the boss teaches me things, as Achim was doing via IM a few weeks ago.)

Ah! You've brought up something which I forgot to mention - highlighting other writers' work in the sidebar. I tend to go for related articles, which would be useful for our readers, rather than automatically inserting my stuff.
Google logs ...

Haunted Battlefields: The Ghosts of Flodden
I agree with every word of that, and so did most of the people around James IV. All of his counselors, plus his wife, were against invading England in this instance. This is why some have assumed that the 'angel' was someone dressed up. He ...

Jo, I would love make some noise. I just can't seem to get anybody to read my articles.
Why do I spend so much time commenting at your articles? Because you talk back!!
I'm all for comments and participation. And I don't do it because my ...

Haunted Battlefields: The Ghosts of Flodden
Jo, You are a qualified historian and speak as such.
Me? I'm just a peacemaker-type thinker, viewing a situation hundreds of years later way after the fact and going: "I would have figured out a way not to go to war."
I was watching an old ...

How I Found My Free Family History Program
Thanks. I think other people might like some of the programs that I didn't, but I had specific things I was looking for. There might even be a better one out there than the one I settled on, but I'd rather spend my time on the history, rather ...

Grocery Store Gardening
My mango tree is growing well. It's fun to see it grow even if it doesn't produce good fruit. I have been trying to grow figs from cuttings, but I'm not sure it's taking root. And everyone in the world can grow avocados except me.

You've hit the nail on the head there. It can feel like we're writing in a vacuum, particularly when it takes months or years for a decent amount of pennies to start accumulating. Our fellow writers can encourage and reassure, if only by ...

How I Found My Free Family History Program
I love how you've given the pros and cons of each of these programs. I'm curious to trace my own family tree.

Grocery Store Gardening
My father owned a wholesale nursery when I was growing up, and I remember some of the interesting places he'd collect his "stock". Papaya seeds came from the papayas we got from the grocery store. Figs are easily grown from cuttings. You are ...

Turning Back the Clock with RS2006
I'm sorry, it slipped my mind. But I've just messaged him now.

Remembering the Battle of Flodden 500 Years On
It's one of those butterfly wings of history flapping into a great storm.
I'd go for your wedding being symbolic, rather than amusing, if you mention it on the day! And happy wedding anniversary!

Haunted Battlefields: The Ghosts of Flodden
frankbeswick - He could have dismissed Margaret Tudor as a tender hearted woman, who knew nothing of politics.
I think that James IV regretted not listening to Mother Mary, when he was dying on Flodden battlefield, in the midst of the worst ...
