Edible Flowers
Yes, we have multiflora. It gives plenty of petals for flavouring, but you will find that plants bred to have double the amount of petals per flower head lack scent. This affects their role in the garden, but not their wine-flavouring ...

Rushbearing at Grasmere in the English Lake District
Derdriu, what an excellent question but it is one to which I cannot do justice. Now, rushes are believed to be seriously unhygienic as although the top later is replaced, the lower layer was harbouring many ghastly things! Having worked on ...

StevenHelmer, Thank you for practical information, pretty pictures and product lines. Do you know why it is though that a shaggy dog was selected over anyone or anything else?

Ayurveda A Way of Life
Revisiting your article called to mind a question that I had when I first read it. Under your picture of an ayurveda pestle, you describe the base to formulations as clarified butter, honey or sandalwood paste. Is the base specific to the ...

Edible Flowers
Revisiting this article caused me to connect it with your article, Making Your Own Wine, on wine-making. You describe roses as flavoring wine. Do you have mulfiflora rose (Rose multiflora) on your side of the pond? What do you think of it as a ...

StevenHelmer, Thank you for product lines, pretty pictures and practical information. I agree with what you and your family appreciate about this film, which I already have seen. Have you read the book upon which it's based and the sequel? The ...

Rushbearing at Grasmere in the English Lake District
Revisiting this article called to mind a question that I've had over the past few months and kept meaning to ask you. It's related, because it's about rushes. But it's unrelated, because it's about great houses. The Last Duel, which follows ...

Making Your Own Wine
The white sediment is at the bottom of the jar along with the lees, the dead yeast. You do not use this stuff to drink, so when you siphon the wine, leave the sediment in the jar and then pour it away.

Movie Review: Truth or Dare (2018)
StevenHelmer, Thank you for product lines, pretty pictures and practical information. It's particularly unfriendly of Carter to behave that way to anybody, but particularly to his own peer group members who are just doing what he superficially ...

Making Your Own Wine
Thank you! One last question: I meant to ask in regard to your first comment to my question two days ago, is there anything I can do about the white sediment in strawberry wine, and if not, will it have no or some slight taste?

Making Your Own Wine
