Create A Mini Birthday Scrapbook

by linfcor

You can celebrate a special birthday by making a mini scrapbook. This project uses envelopes and other supplies you probably already have in your craft stash. Create now.

Making a mini scrapbook for a special birthday is a terrific way to celebrate a special milestone. This mini scrapbook is actually made with envelopes. It's a wonderful way to use up all those envelopes that you have stashed away. You can create a theme for your birthday mini, depending on who's special day you are recognizing. For this one, I was celebrating my husbands 65th birthday, so I wanted to show just how 65 candles look.

The thing that I like about this project is that it allowed me to use all the odds and ends that I had in my craft room and still make a memorable scrapbook for a remarkable celebration. You can chose to theme by color or paper if you would like. To me a birthday celebration should be bright and colorful. You could also theme by boy or girl. Of course if the person is celebrating an older milestone you could do a black and white theme. Other themes might be a sports theme, or something that the person enjoys. You can include pictures and words. It's all up to you !

You can use a Kraft paper envelope to place your mini to give it or make an envelope from a piece of scrap paper as I did. No matter how you make it, this project is sure to please

Steps To Create A Birthday Mini Scrapbook

  1. Gather all the necessary equipment and supplies. The envelopes should all be the same size. Decide how many pages that you would like to have. Remember that the envelopes have two sides, so each one actually makes two pages
  2. Cut the flaps off of all the envelopes. Use the paper cutter to make even cuts. Discard the flaps or save them for scrap paper
  3. Cut scrapbook paper in the dimensions of your envelopes. You will need 2 pieces per envelope. Put them in the order that you want them to appear in your book. Using a ruler and a pencil, mark the space on each envelope and piece of scrapbook paper where the two holes will be. Once you are sure they are all lined up, punch two holes in each piece of paper and envelope
  4. Line up the envelopes and the scrapbook papers to match the holes Using the scrapbook tape, adhere the scrapbook paper to both sides of the envelopes. Adhere the reinforcements onto the holes. I used washi tape around the edges of my pages to reinforce them and to give a more colorful look
  5. Decorate your pages with photos or décor as you wish. I used birthday themed décor and included candles on every page ! For my book, I used photo edges to give the pages a little vintage look. I used a lot of stickers and die cuts on my Cuttlebug and Cricut machine, but you could easily use stickers that you purchase
  6. Assemble the book and enjoy giving it to that special someone. Use the metal rings or the ribbon and fibers to connect it all together

I like making little books as special gifts. Did you stick things inside your envelopes? That would be the beauty of using envelopes for this project. I love the photos you've included of your finished pages.
