Should You Buy The De'Longhi EC155 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker?

The Delonghi EC155 has gotten a fair amount of popularity recently. It certainly produces great coffee, and at such a low price it is one of the best value-for-money espresso makers out there. While inferior to a commercial Italian espresso maker, the Delonghi EC155 is a great choice for home coffee and espresso enthusiasts.

DeLonghi EC155 Review

The Delonghi EC155 is a pump-driven espresso maker, unlike most cheaper espresso machines which are steam-driven. This means that you have more control over the machine and at the end of the day you can make a much better-tasting shot of espresso.

Another unique and useful feature of the Delonghi EC155 is the fact that it is ESE-compliant. It is one of the rare espresso machines out there that you can use with coffee pods, to easily make espresso and not have to bother with a complicated grinding and cleaning process.

Of course the best thing about the Delonghi is the fact that it makes great tasting coffee, but enthusiasts also love the styling which is modern and elegant.

The Delonghi is easy to use, however it does not come with a good quality tamp for the grounds, so it's recommended to buy an inexpensive but better quality tamp to use with this machine.

The EC155 has a milk frothing wand built in, which means that you can easily froth milk to have with espresso and make cappuccinos, lattes, etc. This is important to me since I do drink cappuccinos on occasion and enjoy the ease of frothing milk. However, the frothing wand sits a bit low at only 3.75 inches off the ground, so you will need a container of that height or shorter for frothing milk with.

The EC155 does not come with a cup warmer. If this is an essential feature for you then you should upgrade to a higher end model which does come with a cup warmer. However for home or office use, you can simply rinse your mug with hot water or microwave it prior to use, to get it warm enough for your needs.

Cleaning the filter is easy enough. However, one thing you should keep in mind is that the Delonghi EC155 is not a backflushing model - once a month you should run a cleaner through it to keep it clean and running smoothly.

If you would prefer not to buy an espresso maker and would like some other kind of coffee maker, then you might enjoy reading my articles on the best french press coffee maker, stovetop percolators, the keurig b40 coffee maker, keurig b60 single cup coffee maker, keurig b70 reviews, bodum bistro burr coffee grinder reviews and cuisinart dc1200 reviews. Otherwise, if you're looking for an inexpensive but great-quality pump-driven espresso machine, the EC155 is a great choice!
