Halloween Cupcake Wrappers & Halloween Cupcake Picks

by lou16

Looking for a quick and easy way to transform your cupcakes into Halloween cupcakes? Try some of these Halloween cupcake wrappers or Halloween cupcake picks.

There are lots of different ways of decorating your cupcakes, but if you don’t feel like you’re very artistic and some of the options feel intimidating let me introduce Halloween cupcake picks. These cupcake picks are a great way of transforming your cupcakes into a Halloween treat.

Another simple way of transforming your cupcake into a Halloween cupcake is by using some of the Halloween cupcake wrappers or liners that are available. Who said that decorating cupcakes had to be hard!

Transforming Your Cupcakes into Halloween Cupcakes

Halloween Cupcake Decorating Made Easy

If you've decided to use a Halloween cake pick to decorate your delicious cupcake then there just remains one thing to do - ice your cupcake.   There are a number of ideas for how best to ice your Halloeen cupcake to achieve the look you're going for so grab yourself a cup of coffee and let's have a look at turning your ordinary cupcakes into Halloween Cupcakes!

Graveyard & Skeleton Halloween Cupcakes

Now I think a great way of ‘icing’ these cupcakes is by giving the effect of dirt from the graveyard where the skeletons have risen and are dancing on the graves!

You will need some oreo biscuits or similar – you can eat the cream filling as we only need the biscuit part.   Whiz these up in your mixer or use a mortar and pestle or simply pop the biscuits into a zip lock bag and use a rolling pin to smash them up.   In other words we need these cookies crumbed.

You can frost the tops of the cupcakes or do something my daughter loves which is to spread melted chocolate across the top.

Now you roll the top of the cupcake into the biscuit crumbs pressing gently so that it completely covers the top of the cupcake giving the illusion of dirt.

Pop in a graveyard sign pick or a skeleton pick and you have a great Halloween cupcake.

Ghost Halloween Cupcakes

Now as far as a ghost cupcake is concerned I think the easiest thing to do is to add a whipped buttercream style of topping such as these icing in a can products (opposite) which make icing children’s play – literally.   My daughter and her friends had great fun using these cans of spray on icing to ice cupcakes a couple of years ago.

I like to just use the white icing and pop in the Halloween ghost cupcake pick.   My daughter, however, feels that a ghost cupcake pick should have a black cake to reside above as ghosts come out at night!

Luckily you can get the canned icing in all of the Halloween colors which we couldn't get last year (we live in Australia).   When my daughter wanted a black cake we had to use royal icing.

Make a basic royal icing by mixing icing sugar, water and black food coloring into a paste and spread over the top of a cupcake.   My tip is to add the pick before the icing hardens as it slides in easily and won’t crack the icing.

Witch Halloween Cupcakes

If you want to use the icing in a can above then you can either just 'ice' the cupcakes in a swirl pattern in either of the three colors and pop in a witch Halloween cupcake pick, however there's a much better way (in my opinion) of making a witch inspired cupcake.

Using the can (with the thickest nozzle attached) just add stripes alternating between the black and orange and you'll have the effect of a pair of witches stockings on the cupcake - add a pick and you're good to go.

If you're up for making your own buttercream style of icing then purple and black stripes also look great for a witch cupcake or just plain purple.

Using Halloween Cupcake Picks

There are a number of other types of Halloween cupcake picks available like the ones below.   How you decide to decorate the cupcakes that you want to add these to is up to you, but here’s a few ideas.

Use the buttercream icing or icing in a can and do a variety of different colored 'Halloween' colors on all of the cupcakes and then add the Halloween cupcake picks.

Use the orange and black striped idea mentioned under the witch cupcakes section.

Use royal icing (instructions are under the ghost cupcake section) in different colors and then just add the Halloween cupcake picks.

Use any of the icing methods mentioned and add sprinkles (you can even get these in Halloween colors!).

Halloween Cupcake Wrappers

Another way of easily decorating your Halloween cupcakes is by using cupcake wrappers or cupcake liners.   These came in a range of different styles and you can use them on their own or in conjunction with the Halloween cupcake picks mentioned above.

There are lots of other ways to decorate your Halloween cupcakes which you can use in conjunction with some great cupcake wrappers as well.

Halloween Spider Cupcakes

A very popular Halloween cupcake style is the spider web cupcake wrappers and I have two for you to choose from here.   The first is in a pack from Martha Stewart and contains half Happy Halloween cupcake wrappers and half spider web cupcake wrappers.

The second is a very gothic looking black spider web cupcake wrapper that looks even more awesome when an orange cupcake liner is used underneath it.

Vampire Cupcake Wrappers

Decorating Vampire Inspired Halloween Cupcakes

When it comes to using vampire inspired Halloween cupcake wrappers then you can add red icing to the top of the cupcakes or even a deep purple or black.   These gothic colors really add to the drama of your cupcakes.

Blood Splatter Halloween Cupcakes

Drama Over The Cupcakes!

When I first saw the blood splatter cupcake wrappers my first idea was for a Dexter party!   I then thought about how to incorporate them into Halloween cupcakes.   If you have any cupcakes that you’ve made with a blood and guts theme then these are obviously the cupcake wrappers for you.

Another option for these cupcake wrappers is to have a who got murdered over the cupcakes theme for some of your cupcakes.

To do this you simply use white royal icing on the top of the cupcakes, add the blood splatter cupcake wrappers and then pop some red food coloring into a dropper and add random drops of blood to your cupcakes.

Halloween cupcake wrappers can be used really well when combined with other cupcake decorating ideas from the simple Halloween cupcake picks featured on this page to the range of ideas below.
