My boys got hooked (ahem) on Jake and the Never Land Pirates while visiting their 3 year old cousin who was already a fan of the show.

I love TV shows that get the boys up and joining in and answering questions, and Jake and the Never Land Pirates definitely does this.

I have to admit that I find some Disney channel shows too loud and over the top. But I'm okay with Jake and Izzy. The kids have great fun solving pirate problems to earn gold doubloons. And I have to admit that the theme tune is rather catchy.

Dressing Up as Pirates

I think most little kids love dressing up. Mine certainly do - they are 3 and nearly 5. I've bought them new pirate costumes for Halloween this year. They are going to have lots of fun being Jake and Cubby and joining in with the show!

They love pretending to go on a pirate adventure, in search of treasure and avoiding crocodiles!

And I can tell them that the toys all over the living room floor are a pirate problem that we need to solve in order to earn gold doubloons! Do you think that will work? We do have some toy gold pirate coins.

Pirate Party

My younger son and his cousin (the one that introduced them to Jake) had a Jake and the Never Land Pirates themed birthday party with pirate party supplies.

I made two cakes, a pirate ship and a treasure island. Hopefully the Pirate Ship looks like Bucky (though I used red stripes instead of blue on the sails, silly me.) And I made sure there were gold doubloons in the treasure chest on the island.

The boys were very happy. And the adults enjoyed the cakes too.
