Review of Devour Italian Sausage Lasagna

by StevenHelmer

I purchased this at one of our local grocery stores on Friday. Read to find out what I thought of it.

Product Description: Frozen, single-serve, Italian sausage lasagna from the Devour brand that is prepared either in the microwave or oven. I purchased this product at one of our local grocery stores Friday morning for $3.35. I ended up preparing this lasagna and eating it for dinner late that evening.

Review

I had to put in some volunteer time at our local ice rink Friday evening (one of the joys of being a parent of a figure skater) and, since I knew I wasn't going to be home until after 9:30 that night, I decided to pick up some frozen dinners for the family.

I had planned on picking up something I was more familiar with. However, I was curious about this brand/product and decided to pick up the frozen lasagna for myself. I ended up having it that night and was pleasantly surprised by it.

When I made this purchase, I did have a few doubts about it. I've had quite a few similar products in the past and, while there were some I liked, there were just as many that weren't that great, either because they lacked flavor, were very thin or both. As it turns out, I didn't have to worry about that.

For one, the lasagna was very filling. Unlike many other brands I've purchased, it wasn't paper thin and had plenty of meat and cheese. This was appreciated because, by the time I got home from the skating rink, I was getting very hungry.

I also thought the lasagna had a good flavor to it. It wasn't overly spicy (which I did appreciate since I was having this not long before I was going to bed) but still had enough of a kick to it to keep it from being as bland as so many other frozen foods I've eaten.

I also thought it was easy to make. Some frozen lasagnas like this can take as long as 15 minutes in the microwave. This one was fully cooked in about 8 minutes and, again, that was something I appreciated because I was definitely ready to eat by that time.

Final Opinion

This was a good product at a decent-enough price. I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you're looking for a lasagna dinner for one.

StevenHelmer, Thank you for practicalities, picture and product.
Did all four of you all have one package each, or did your daughters split one? So does the one packaged dinner for one apply to one hungry youngster or two (or more)?
