Review of Hormel Cure 81 Classic Dinner Ham

It had been a while since we had made ham for dinner. So, while I was out doing some other shopping yesterday morning, I decided to stop by the meat section and pick one up.

My original plan was to buy a cheaper "ham and water product" brand. However, when I saw I could pick up this product for only a couple dollars more, I decided to spend the extra money and give it a try. As it turns out, it was actually a pretty good purchase.

The last time I had ham, I was very disappointed by it. It was very salty, kind of fatty and really not that pleasant to eat. As a result of this, I did make this purchase with a bit of hesitation because, as I said, I decided to spend more money on this brand than I originally intended.

However, after preparing the ham, I can definitely say my fears were unfounded. The ham had a great flavor to it. There was a little bit of a salt taste, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the last one we purchased and we were able to enjoy it much more as a result.

I also was impressed with the overall quality of this ham. There wasn't nearly as much fat in it as many other brands we've purchased. This meant there was more edible meat per slice and the ham was much more filling as a result.

In fact, since it was a smaller ham, I wasn't expecting to have much of it leftover. But, we ended up having enough for at least one more meal. This definitely added some value to our purchase.

I had to spend a bit more to get this ham. But, it was well worth the money and is a product I would definitely recommend if you're looking to have ham for dinner one night.
