Is it really necessary to spend money for Valentine's Day? Will this day be any less special and meaningful for couples if they spend nothing at all? With how commercialized the day of hearts has become, there are many who put too much value on material things, like giving gifts, so much so that they end up losing sight of what's really important.
What should you remember about the 14th of February? What is this day really all about? It's not about the presents, no matter how expensive, that you give to your lover and it's not about how much money you end up spending that make up this day.
What really matters is both you and your partner. This day should be all about you two and your relationship because there's more to Valentine's Day than just giving gifts and spending lots of money. What you should focus on is your soul mate and how to make him or her happy as well as ensuring that you are able to spend some time (if not spend the whole day) with him or her.
There's no reason why couples can't have a special and meaningful Valentine's Day even without having to spend a single cent. At the end of the day, what matters is that this February 14 is something that the both of you can always look back on and remember with a fond smile and with a rush of happy memories.
Experiences like that won't easily be forgotten and are something that will always be etched in your mind, never to fade away and this is something that can be better than any material thing that you can give and receive. So, what are some romantic date or gift ideas, that costs you nothing, but which can make both you and your lover very happy on Valentine's Day?

@Mira - thanks. Yes, walks can be a great way to spend time together no matter the season because there should always be something nice to look at and the scenery can be amazing regardless of the season. If eating outdoors can't be an option at the moment, one can always choose to eat indoors at one's house.
@AbbyFitz - thanks. Yes, it's always good to be able to spend some time with your loved ones even if it's not Valentine's Day or even if there's no special occasion. Sometimes, it's just good to hang out and be there for each other or just talk and catch up on how the other is doing.
These are good ideas not only for valentines day, but anytime you want to spend time together
These are nice ideas. A long walk and eating outdoors are wonderful. Maybe harder if the temperatures don't help much, but still, even though eating outdoors might not be an option, walks are great in all seasons.
