Star Wars Lego

by Legofun

Star Wars lego has been an extremely popular theme since it was first released in 1999 and it doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon!

If you're new to Lego Star Wars it's hard to know where to start as there's in excess of 100 different Star Wars sets that have been released.

Every year since 1999 when Lego first released the Star Wars theme there have been new Star Wars sets released and as quickly as they're released they're being snapped up by collectors and Star Wars Lego fans alike.

Here's a selection of some of the best Star Wars Lego sets available to get you started.

Lego Star Wars Death Star II

As Seen on TV

Yes this Star Wars Lego set has had a role on a hit television show - The Big Bang Theory - where one of the main characters was building it.   He was frustrated at being interupted on his Lego night and I'm not surprised as this is a large set which is built to scale with the original (could you expect anything less from a model that Sheldon Cooper would build?)

On the show it was referred to as the Death Star, but in reality the one pictured was the Death Star II, both of these sets are very impressive and would be great for any Star Wars fan whether they liked Lego or not!

The Lego Star Wars Death Star II is recommended for ages 16 and up and is an impressive replica built to scale of the original Death Star in the movie.   There are 3,417 pieces for you to build and the set also comes with a display stand which indicates to me that it really was just designed to be a display piece.

The Lego Star Wars Death Star #10188 is my preferred set, although that's probably because I'm a sucker for minifigures and this set contains 25 of them!   The recommended age for this Lego Star Wars set is 12-20 years and there are 3,803 pieces in the set.

This set looks amazing when completed and allows you to recreate many scenes from the movies - if you decide to frequent any Lego forums you'll find numerous people who will tell you that this is the ultimate set for Lego Star Wars fans.

LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon 7965

Feel the Force - Lego Style!

Released in August 2011 this Star Wars Lego set was advertised as being the most authentic Lego replicas to date which is a big statement to make.   One thing that is certain is that this Millennium Falcon, unlike earlier Star Wars Lego ones, is sturdy which allows children to actually play with the ship once it's built.

As you can see from the image below this Lego set also came with mini figures - six to be exact and they are Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca and Darth Vader.

The Millenium Falcon, once completed, can be opened up and one of the mini figures really can fit into the smuggling compartment.   Although this completed model would look great on display it's obviously been built to be played with which is awesome.

Recommended for an age group of 9-14 years it actually contains 1,254 pieces, two instruction booklets as well as a sticker sheet.

LEGO Star Wars The Battle of Endor (8038)

Voted One of the Coolest Lego Star Wars Sets

Bricklist - the Lego Set Guide voted The Battle of Endor set as number 2 on their coolest Lego Star Wars sets so who am I to argue?   If you're wondering what number 1 was it was the Death Star that I've already featured.

This fantastic Star Wars Lego set contains 890 pieces including 12 mini figures and they are - 2 x Scout Troopers, Chewbacca, Han Solo, Imperial Trooper, R2-D2, Princess Leia, Chief Chirpa (Ewok), Wicket (Ewok), Paploo (Ewok), 2 x Rebel Commandos.

Click on the box set opposite for more information on what's included as well as reading some reviews as there's too much to put on this page so I'll just tell you the best bit about the set (besides the mini figures - the Ewoks are cool!) is the Ewok catapult.
