Valentine's Gifts for The Canine Love of Your Life

by WiseFool

Are you looking for the perfect Valentine's gift for your dog?

The notion of buying a Valentine's gift for a pooch might seem strange to anyone who has never owned a dog. But, let's face it, a four-legged friend will prove more loyal and loving than most Valentine's!

Our dogs are more than just pets, they're members of the family. As such, we often include them in holiday celebrations. So, why not buy Valentine's gifts for dogs? After all, our canine companions show us how much they love us every single day of the year, Valentine's is a great opportunity to remind them that the feeling is mutual.

Why We Love Our Dogs

Weimaraner

"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace." Milan Kundera

"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself." Josh Billings

"I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive." Gilda Radner

"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semihuman. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog." Edward Hoagland

Valentine's Shirts for Small Dogs

When it comes to clothing dogs, I always think you're better off sticking with the small breeds.

Now that's not to say that large dogs can't look very dapper in sweaters, T-shirts and the like, but I always sense a big dog, such as a Great Dane or a German Shepherd, has that "why are you making me look so undignified?" expression.

For small breeds, however, there is nothing cuter than a sweater or shirt, especially if it's Valentine's themed.

For example, the two shirts on the right are almost too cute for words, aren't they? Let's be honest, any sweeter and we'd be in danger of becoming diabetic.

Importantly, both the shirts are made from a poly/cotton mix, which is very comfortable for your Valentine's-day-loving pooch and easy to wash (a must with dog clothing!)

Valentine's Gift Baskets for Dogs

PugNo matter what size or shape your dog, and whether he, or she, is calm or loopy, there are some things that are universally adored by all dogs.

These things include, snacks and toys. So, what better gift for the dog who has everything, than more of his, or her, favorite things?

A gift basket is the perfect Valentine's present for those who really want to spoil their dogs this year.

More Reasons to Love Dogs

“Petting, scratching and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer.” Dean Koontz

"There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face." Ben Williams

"My dog is usually pleased with what I do, because she is not infected with the concept of what I 'should' be doing." Lonzo Idolswine

Valentine's Themed Toys for Dogs

Toys are important for our canine companions, as they help to keep their brains and bodies active.

And, of course, this is especially important if you're a busy family, whose dog spends time alone during the day.

It's vital that lonely dogs have something to keep them occupied - both for their happiness and to avoid boredom or distress-prompted destruction.

So, if you're looking for more Valentine gift ideas for dogs, then why not consider an appropriately themed toy?

These toys will offer comfort when you're not around and fun when you are there to play along.

Whether big or small, old or young, dogs love to chew, chase and snuggle with their beloved toys and all of the ones shown on the left fit the bill. These are also extremely cute and are bound to set tails wagging.

And, for owners who perhaps don't want to go 'overboard' with Valentine's gifts for the dog, one small item is ample to ensure that he, or she, still feels part of the holiday fun.

Thanks, Katie. I think the tees are incredibly cute. If I had a little four-legger in my life right now, I'd definitely have to get him/her one of those!
