Just a question, Jo's latest post here made me realize that its the wizzographies that pop up on our profile. Am I right? Just curious. I haven't planned on writing mine, but would have to give it a thought if that's the case.

Look under 'Settings' to Wizzography.   There's a pull down menu to choose which article you are going to feature up there.

My understanding is that it defaults to Wizzography, or first article if you haven't got one.  But you can choose from them all.

I personally think that a Wizzography is great, as it humanises you.  Your readers get to know you and that adds to your credibility as a writer.

If you've assigned an article as Wizzography in your settings, then this one will be shown in your profile header. Otherwise we choose a popular or new article by random. Possibly, we'll also add an option to feature a selected article.

Brandon, the statistics needs to fill up first. We had to clear the referrer data, so there's nothing to show right now. Give it a few hours or days. It should be fine then, and the pie will return.

Jo, by "complex two-column layout", we mean articles where lots of shrunk modules are placed side by side and on top of each other without any full width modules in between. Due to slightly different heights of the new modules, this can lead to undesired shifting and breaking ... so there may appear gaps, or left aligned modules may appear right aligned. It's pretty rare, but sure, here and there we'll observe it. It's not too bad, just a layout glitch for readers.

You can "simulate" Wiki modules with pure text, if desired. Keep the Duplicate Content issue in mind, so don't copy too much from Wiki.

You may also use <code> or <pre> in text modules to display source code. It's not clored automatically, but it's okay and can - if required - still be colorized manually via inline styles.

For Chitika: It's the same as for AdSense: with more words, the number of Chitika ads increases (u to 3 I think). This particular ad will be optimized a lot during the next couple of months. It max be aligned right or left, placed in the middle of the intro, using 1 Chitika above the intro + another 1-2 Chitikia ads below ... and so on. There are lots and lots of ideas to this point and we're going to track all of them to maximize the revenue for you.

Thanks I just set one of my favorite Wizzes as the wizzography. Will write one later when time permits. The default is just --- and I realized that everytime my Profile was showing a different article on top - random order. Now it should be fine I guess.

Just as a remider, which is also shown when selecting a Wizzography: Since these mostly contain information, that is not of any worth to Google readers, we have them not indexed! Therefore, we plan to offer also an option to feature a real article on author profiles. If none is selected by you, we choose something like the latest or most popular article for this spot.

lol I just went back to settings and made it blank again. I want that one to be crawled by Google in the future too, so no risks :D

For the record, my pie is there. I'm in the latest Firefox.

Ah! I know the sort that you mean. I'll go and check out my 100th Anniversary of Titanic then, as that used it a lot.

Noted and thanks for the clarification.

Ok, I'll bear it in mind if I do write those Wizzles. Thanks!

Oooh! This is great to know. Danke! However, it has just hit home that I might have to go back over 180 articles and mess with the formatting. I can't tell you how much my heart's sunk at that one. Going back over 80 to Americianize the English nearly broke me. *cries*

Found a bug/problem - I can't approve comments Frown

I've gone through about half of my pages and some of the 2 columns pages look fine and the others I've had to change so not as bad as I was expecting.

@Simon - I'll check that out soon, gotta go through the rest of my pages first.

Update on the comments - I was able to approve them on the actual page that the comment was left, but not from my comment screen.

Just wanted to say I think the new pages look stunning. Love the shrunken ad at the top and the clean layout. I also prefer the new profile page.

Here's looking forward to Google giving the site some major love as a result!

@lou: The comment approval inside your account might be a cache problem. I'm not 100% sure though. Please let us know, if the issue does not disappear after reloading without cache.

The TOC module actually had a bug *before* the update. Sorry for that. We don't list any commercial modules - that is Amazon, eBay, Zazzle, an AllPosters - in the contents module. In most cases that is not a particularly useful target for readers. Unfortunately, until now, we forgot to exclude eBay (and Zazzle?) from the module, which was now corrected. This particular article of yours got hit somewhat badly, because virtually all your module titles reside in the *commercial* module next to it's describing text module :-P In that case, I'd suggest to simple remove the content module. I believe it's not that important for readers there.

Thanks Simon Cool

I have to say that overall the site looks wonderful and you've all done a great job, I'd send you some chocolate cupcakes, but I don't think they'll travel too well so I'll eat them instead :P

Sorry, Simon,  I've found another bug.

When inserting images into a text module, there's no option to upload one from your hard-drive.  You can still insert a URL image though.

It's only on insertions.  In the image module itself, you can upload from your hard-drive.

I agree with Jo. I know too how much work goes into something like this change. It looks AWESOME!

I'm still figuring out where things are. I miss the topics and the bubbles alerting me to messages in the top bar. Otherwise, LOVE IT.

(hey, where did the smilies go?)  :0

I can't EDIT either. I went to one of my pages and clicked "edit" on a text module and just get an "ERROR" box. ONO!

Lana,

I've learned the hard way, as anxious as we are to clean up our Wizzleys with the new changes, it is best to wait a few days and be sure any glitches are worked out, etc. I would assume there will be a few aftershocks, like posting in the forum or editing, etc...I'm going to wait a bit.

I agree with you, Katie.

I, too, love Simon, and I'm totally disgusted with myself.   Laughing

You are right. I just get anxious. I'll chill for a few days....Should we wait to try to publish new articles too?
